I concede that how children are socialized today influence the destiny of society. but it’s a overstatement when the author put causal link between the two. As to the assertion that we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society is poorly evidenced.

Socialization of a child is a complex process through which a naïve innocent baby become a
member of a society who assimilate the social culture and make further contribution to it. School education, family nurturing, social imitation are three major approach that children become socialized.

How children are socialized today has some influence on the destiny of society ,because children are raised with expectations that represent adults’ view of future society, and tend to live up to them. Government set education goals referring to development of society. In the late 1970, Chinese government raised a slogan that” Science and technology are primary productive forces. ” so children then spend more time studying science and believed “Math Physics and Chemistry rule
all” as the popular saying goes. And they were encouraged to choose science or engineer as their college major. 40 years later, it turned out that China has undergone a great leap in science and technology development , even is leading in some area like aviation.


It’s quite obvious to see children live up to the adults’ expectation. But sometime it’s not the case at all. From personal perspective, Sakyamuni were born and raised to be a king. But he followed his inner voice and were engaged himself in spirit salvation and founded Buddhism eventually .From the social perspective, women is a interior group in society in many culture around world.
women are expected to be the attachment to man. In family girls were taught to be tamed, elegant and were trained to be a competent wife and mother, best illustrated in a famous film Mona Lisa Smile . However, during the last 60 years, women have participated in society from all sides including politics, finance, transportation even military as well as the traditional fields like education, service.
And women enjoy the social status and resource as the same as men do. The statement that how children are socialized determines the destiny of society surely can’t explain this variation.

The issue that the socialization process take place in public media is rather complicated. It’s overstatement to say media determines the destiny of society, but it’s truly has both positive and negative effect on children, thus lead to certain social trend or events . the famous social study conducted in America proved that children learn violent behavior from TV no matter what the motive behind the violence is. And statistic shows the increasing juvenile delinquency during past decades had strong relation with frequent violent scenes on TV. And recently world-popular TV shows like American idol make millions of people especially teenagers carry the dream of being some one. Some treats it as a driving force to work hard but others just goes to the extreme.

Consider next the speaker’s claim that we have not learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society . the speaker is just disappointed at education without evidence. Now we are living in a globalized world. That means people from different culture background concern and cooperate for the common welfare of human being and avoid war and environment pollution. Different opinion and position can be compatible in the same place. Contribution made by education can not be effaced. University encourage good minds to be creative and critical, and promote academic cooperation. Schools prepare children to be a world citizen.

To sum up, how children are socialized has relation with social destiny but can’t explain everything about social changes. We now live in a globalized world which is good for human development and education surly contributes a lot to it.

我也觉得自己写得有点绕，还是试着解释一下
我从社会化的三个途径 教育、家庭熏陶和社会模仿 来说明儿童社会化的程度与社会命运的关系。每个方面分别举了一至两个例子。sakamuni是说他的家庭培养他成为一个王子，但他却成为了一个宗教人士，进而影响社会发展。可见儿童如何社会化不一定决定社会的命运。还有过去的妇女在家里被教导要“守妇道”，但是社会的发展是妇女能顶半边天，这也说明了儿童如何社会化不一定决定社会的命运。
社会对儿童社会化的影响我以媒体的影响来说明。媒体对孩子的影响导致的结果很难预测。

最后我反驳作者的第二个观点，因为教育的全球化对世界的全球化贡献很多
