(09.02.27)Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? A job with more vacation time but a low salary is better than a job with a high salary but less vacation time.

Compared to a job with more vacation time but a low salary, a job with a high salary but less vacation time is more suitable for me. But this does not mean that the former is worse than the latter. Which one is better depends on individual condition.

There are three reasons why I think a job with high salary but less vacation time is better. First of all, I want to earn lots of money to relieve my family’s financial burden and lead a better life. Secondly, in my opinion, high salary means wide acknowledgement of the job’s value and importance to some extent. For me, a person who prefer to live life to the fullest, it is the sense of identity that make me satisfy and happy. Besides, I have few friends, so more vacation time just makes me feel lonely rather than bring me happiness. In this sense, I would prefer to leave more time to job so as to seek the feeling of achievement. All in all, a job with high salary but less vacation time is better in terms of my personal trait.

Nevertheless, I have to admit that a job with more vacation time but a low salary is favored by many persons. Although I have not conduct a statistical survey about this statement, I know many men, taking some of my classmates in college for example, would rather take the kind of job with high salary but less vacation time. From my point of view, the reason that someone likes a job with more vacation time but a low salary lies in two main respects. On the one hand, they probably want to spend more time with their families. For example, they could travel some resorts with their families. On the other hand, they might wish to enjoy their lives rather than struggle to make efforts for a job with high salary. Maybe they prefer to sit at the front of window to enjoy the natural landscape and peace while drinking coffee. In sum, a job with more vacation time but a low salary has its distinct advantages so that someone takes it as a better one.

To sum up, these two kinds of jobs have its respective advantages. It is arbitrary to unconditionally think that one of these is better. Which type of job is better varies from person to person.
