51"Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."


We cannot deny that education plays a significant role in the blooming of economy as well as the developing of science. So nowadays more and more scholars and parents are paying attention to the issue that how to schedule the teaching plan and how to make education truly effective. Some experts insist on schools design specific study project to meet individual needs, while some professors on education prefer to provide their students with systematic knowledge at the very beginning.

On one hand, specifically-designed education shows us a humanistic way to bring student more interests and happiness in their learning process which is used to be boring and dull. When a unique course is wholly created due to one special student’s thoughts and logics, it might be easier for him or her to grasp those fresh and unfamiliar information. Probably the student himself will be encouraged by the successful learning experience which may become the right motivation to his other classes.

Moreover, I once saw a genuine story in the newspaper describing a drop-out was saved by his mother’s specifically-designed courses and in the end he received an offer from a very famous university before his old classmates. When interviewed by the journalist, the boy said it was the newly-invented teaching method that helps him study more efficiently and more breezily. From this boy’s words, we would conclude that to some extent, education could be effective when it is changed into the style which students are interested in.

On the other hand, the traditional education (all-the-same education) also represents its irreplaceable status because many students possessing systematic and explicit theory frame are its proud products. Perhaps some of the students at first just feel curious about principles or rules they have never heard before and have not found whether they have special interests in certain fields. If they are taught with traditional books at this time, they could absorb the most comprehensive knowledge. Being checked by so many specialists for so many years, books supplied to student are always the most scientific and most readable ones. As a consequence, students would assimilate the essence of the subject.

Compared to specially-designed education, although traditional education mode lacks consideration on personality, it is still an important and necessary approach to cultivate all-around talents. What’s more, when asked for which is more realistic to carry out among large number of students, the majority of responders might choose traditional education. Not only because it is more executable for teachers to prepare for their classes but also since it could save a large amount of resource.

As far as I am concerned, specially-designed education is not the only way to increase the effectiveness of teaching. Traditional education also could make a contribution to help learning become truly effective. Only by using them according to different situations, can we gain the most satisfactory results.
