1The following appeared in a memorandum written by the vice president of Nature's Way, a chain of stores selling health food and other health-related products.

"Previous experience has shown that our stores are most profitable in areas where residents are highly concerned with leading healthy lives. We should therefore build our next new store in Plainsville, which has many such residents. Plainsville merchants report that sales of running shoes and exercise clothing are at all-time highs. The local health club, which nearly closed five years ago due to lack of business, has more members than ever, and the weight training and aerobics classes are always full. We can even anticipate a new generation of customers: Plainsville's schoolchildren are required to participate in a 'fitness for life' program, which emphasizes the benefits of regular exercise at an early age."

the conclusion is We should therefore build our next new store in Plainsville.
reasons: Plainsville merchants report that sales of running shoes and exercise clothing are at all-time highs. The local health club, which nearly closed five years ago due to lack of business, has more members than ever, and the weight training and aerobics classes are always full. 反驳：1.这个报告的真实性是值得怀疑的，Plainsville的人口是多少，有多大比例的人购买了跑鞋和运动服，这些都是未知的。即使报告真实，也不代表他们一定会购买健康食品，食品和服饰是两个不同的概念。

(1) By relying on previous experience that NW's stores are profitable in areas where people emphasize leading healthy lives, it is still questionable whether NW should build new store in Plainville, in which residents like healthy lives too.
(2) The report from P's merchants cannot necessarily lead to a profit gain by NW stores.
(3) The fact that the local health club attracts people is not sufficient evidence that NW will have such condition too.
(4) Though P's children are required to take part in 'fitness for life' program, they may be not NW's customer at all.

(1) First of all, "previous experience has.....healthy lives" is too vague to act as a persuasive commercial estimating,  in which proper scientific methods and statistical analysis are needed to evaluate the resident's intersts about healthy lives and its quatitative relationship with the sales achievement of company.

(2)Running shoes and exercise clothing are well sold is not necessarily the same thing that the residents are keen on sports and healthy lives, perhaps these sheoes are now popular and cheap; and the prosperity of  the local health club are also unfounded evidence to show that the local residents are highly concerned with leading healthy lives, it is at least likely that the club has introduced more recreation facilities and serve at lower price than few years ago, or perhaps the club provides single women and men with good chances to make friends.

(3)Finally, nothing is mentioned about whether the local schoolchildren are interested in sports and the products of this company, the author only showed us that they are forced to take part in regular exercise which doesn't mean anything.
