周五实验室去天津了,晚上十点才回,比较仓促。

51. Education will be truly effective only when it's specifically designed to the meet the individual needs and interests of each student.


The statement of the issue asserts that education intended to satisfy individual needs and interests turns out to be the most effective and efficient. At first glance, it appeals to be somewhat convincing. Individual interests motivating students to learn is very important, whereas it will results in chaos in educational system when unduly emphasized. In my point of view, education should be devised to guarantee the compulsory course and to appropriately meet interests of each student.



Education in the largest sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense, education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and methods from one generation to another.

  

Admittedly, student-oriented education taking into account the specific needs and interests of each student is an impetus of study motivation, helping students to improve their potential and talent. In history, the ancient Greek and China have advocate focus the interests on students. It is well known that Socrates cultivates Plato by talking with him and lead him to study further on his own interests. Likely, the great sage Confucius also confirmed the importance of teaching students according to their aptitude. Throughout the history, it is commonplace that teachers instruct their students following their interests; so as in modern times. Now the governments in all the countries widely try hard to arouse the enthusiasm of their youngsters for studying by leading their interests.

   

Although interest is very important, it's impossible to satisfy every student's desires on the ground that the population of teachers appeals to be very small compared to the number of students. Conceding that the resource of teaching abound, specifically designed education should not take the place of traditional education on the ground that winking at students' desire would result in chaos in education. It's possible that students' vision gets very narrow and their knowledge structure tend to become severely insufficient. it is explicable that the school must offer some compulsory courses to the students, although some of the young men are just uninterested in it. For instance, if a student aims to be a pilot, but he is only keen on learning how to fly, but nothing else, such as how the airplane works and why it works in this way. It is incredible to imagine that he will be trusted as a qualified pilot if he holds only a part of the necessary knowledge.



Although complete liberty in designing education is not available to all individual students, schools can try their best to offer more choices and autonomy to students as long as the quality of compulsory education is guaranteed. it is unrealistic for the schools to cultivate the students in a traditional way, meanly, to teach them totally depending on their inclination, for apparently the schools are impossible to afford the substantive fee and the society will certainly be impatient for their low efficiency. On the contrary, it is some kind of standard educational mode that can fulfill the urgent requirement of this society, since it can produce enough competent persons. On the other hand, schools should try their best to provide sufficient interesting course for students. For example, schools try to give some choices such as computer and law for those students who are majored in mathematics and are interested in others' practical courses.

   

From the analysis made above, I commit to the optimal approach that we need to seek a balance between interest of students and comprehensive knowledge and take an all-sided consideration.
