In a long time, ethic problems have become a mud of controversies. Although, in reality, people ofter have their clear viewpionts to make their judgement on the morality problems as it is, the phliosophers may not easily agree with an unparadoxical definition about many problems. It just like how many schools of phliosophers do we have, then the equal number arguments will come up. When the ethic topics were brought with another set of arguments, politics, the debate will become even more fierece. Maybe the statement above is no other than one of them, which, therefore, cannnot be easily solved by a simple answer. However, as for this statement, I generally maintain an opposite position.


To begin with, the statement may, to some extent, overestimate people’s the understanding of ethics and moral standards. In other words, we could not exactly find the highest ethical and moral standards based on some certain moral principle. Our moral and ethical principle varies along with the changes of time. Many behaviors, which used to be regarded as immoral, now have become so common, say, homosexual affairs. So if we want find out the highest ethical and moral standards, we have to choose which time of principle should be used to make judgement., not to mention different nations, religions or historical backgrounds would also affect the understanding of morality. If we take all of these factors into account, then hardly can we understand what is moral or not. In a country with all of those complicated aspects, how could a public offical make his judgement about the highest ethical and moral standards？ In this case, the standard would become more relatve and finding the highest would be no less than impossible.



An effective leader often has to take the role of a politican, who has no choice but facing and coordinating the variety of parties, partitions and their unstable opinions. Assuming the different positions of moral standard of different individuals whom the headmaster shouldbe responsible for, then we have to consider the arising difficulty of making them satisfied. After all, the leader is not supposed to arouse their unhappy, or else he will go away. If the leader pay more attention to avoid to be charged by the complexity and viable moral standard of the group, the less time and attention could be paid to solving some real problems, so, in this case, being a perfect man is really unrealistic and cumbersome.




Although we have to admit it is important for a leader or any public offcials to maintain some ethical and moral principles, we, in reality, could still find many effectve leaders in politics, who are crippled at their moral peformance, say, the prime minister of Itlay. Berlusconi have been found so many stories and mistakes in private life that he have to annully pay no less than 10 million dollars to deal with his variety of law suits, but he is also the first and the only person who can fullfill his term at the position of the prime minister in Italy since the end of the Second World War. His popularity is as high as the opponents’ charges. So, despite he is not a decent people, as a politician, he is effective enough.




It is by no mean a simple task to make a fair comment on a leader or public, especially concerning about the his morality. People have never stopped reiteratng on the importance of the morality and ethics of politicians, while solving the real problem, instead of being goody-goody is always given the first priority by many successful leaders. After all, the majority just pay more attetion to the solution of problems related to themselves, thereby, when facing the choices between the ability with poor morality and the decent gentleman with less solution, people, obviously prefer the latter one.
