Is education more effective to place emphasis on individual needs and interests of students? The author claims so. To meet individual needs and inspire the interests of students can maximize the effect of education, thus more possible for teachers to characterize students with knowledge. However, over-focused attention on each student’s interests may unexpectedly impede the whole class in the process of learning.
What students truly pursue and need are worth of spending time and energy of teachers. Teachers, often regarded as the person in the center of class, tends to pay more attention on their progress of teaching rather than the genuine needs from students sitting in the classrooms. Such way of teaching may produce more common models who reach the standard established by schools, or more various "bad children" with actually high intelligent but disappoint their teacher in academic grades. No one but the way of educating should be blamed for this consequence. After all, an education which cannot fit for the demand of students can never be effective all the way. The purpose of education is to help students find potential of their body, mind, and the spirits he or she possesses, not in an arbitrary way to force them passively being poured with knowledge. In my viewpoint, to know better of a student's character and individuality can help teachers apply varied teaching ways so that maximizing the influence of education can inspire potential abilities of students.
Nevertheless, the disadvantages of overdue attention on individual requirements should not be negligible. Although individuality differs from student to another, the majority of students probably have the same ability of learning when they accept the same quality of teaching. With limited time and energy, a teacher may not supposed to place much emphasis on few individuals regardless of the demand of the majorities in the class. What's more, the teacher also plays a momentous role in shaping students' mind with high morality and model standard in the society, for some individual's needs and interests may not contradict to society. Not all the students' requirement should be reasonably met and even desirably needed corrected.
Whether education will be effective among children depends on how teacher equip his students with knowledge and skill that will benefit the future society. To pursue the ultimate interests of human being, to further study any field of human endeavor, to thrive the economy and quality of life among the world can be the final dream of all the students, which is what our society needs and praised.
In sum, to focus on individual needs of students can inspire their potential so that they may lear fast in the process of learning, while undue attention placed on individual may ignore other members' need. What's more, the educational purpose can be focused on develop dream and purpose in students that can serve well in the future society.
