"A group of volunteers participated in a study of consumer responses to the new Luxess face cream. Every morning for a month, they washed their faces with mild soap and then applied Luxess. At the end of that month, most volunteers reported a marked improvement in the way their skin looked and felt. The assertion that Luxess is truly effective in improving the condition of facial skin seems at first glance to be an obvious conclusion. However, careful scrutiny of the evidence reveals that it provides little support for the recommendation.

Firstly, lacking information about the number of the volunteers surveyed in the study and the way the way how the study was conducted, the result of the study is suspect. Maybe the volunteers can not constitute an enough large sample to be a representative of most of the people. And if the volunteers are only teenagers, will the cream have the same effecting to the old ?It is also possible that the volunteer can not answer the study by their true feeling but according to what has been told.

Another problem that may weaken the logic of the argument is that we have no evidence to exclude other possible alternatives that also contribute to the improvement of their skin. It is highly possible that the using of mild soap has more contribution to the improvement of the skin. Or even washing face everyday will do good to their skin.

Last but not least, a month may be not a sufficient amount of time to prove the effecting of the cream. Maybe the weather in that period is not so dry as before, so the feeling of the skin is much better than before. Or if the volunteers in that period is in a good condition in health, their skin will correlative feel better.

To sum up, due to the above problems, the arguer fails to convince me of the conclusion that Luxwess is truly effective in improving the condition of facial skin.
