Issue167
------题目------
It is impossible for an effective political leader to tell the truth all the time. Complete honesty is not a useful virtue for a politician.
------正文------
Nowadays, whether a political leader need to be complete honest to achieve his efficiency comes to be a question, over which fierce debate takes place. The speaker's assertion tries to convince us that a politician does not need to tell the truth all the time, which I do believe, at least on some level; while on the contrary, I suppose that it would prove that totally ignoring honesty cannot be a wise choice to politicians.
There is no escaping the fact that sometimes politicians have to cover the truth for some reason, and which does happen in every kind of society, no matter only the privileged minority take charge of the government or else that the masses have the right to participate in the politics. In addition, it becomes a necessity when it comes to the time when the politicians have the ambition to reach some political goal. Let us take voting for officials election for example, politicians spare no efforts to do compliments to themselves, trying to attract the masses to vote for them showing their passion on the construction of the society, their great cares about the poor and the bottom class of the society, as well as their faith in themselves to provide more comfortable and convenient living condition for the residents. At the meantime, we cannot ignore possible attacks on their back from their opponents, which verify that the politicians are not telling every truth of themselves, for at that time, surprising news and scandals may explode here and there into the society. Or we can call it political rhetoric of the politicians to perfect themselves, because with this dishonesty to the disadvantages they may suffer from as arms in hand, politicians beat their opponents and get the final victory and solid their position of managing the society.
As the politicians are the minority few that are responsible for keeping the society under order, some well-meaning lies can help to placate the scorching conflicts between the different classes and improve the relationship of people from distinct living background and religions and nationalities and so forth. Furthermore, on the one hand, to be not complete honesty does stick up to the benefits of the nation and lend concrete support to the development of the country; on another, it is of indispensable importance to build up the figure of the nation all over the world and, to some extent, show their attitude towards many international affairs.
However, it is honesty that can be offer the honor of the most precise virtue, not only to a regular person, but also of same importance to the politicians. With the honesty from deep inside of the heart, and by the great help of which, politicians can win masses' trust and love as well as support to a dramatically large extent. Sis, for instance, who is famous for his honesty and candor during his period as England Premier, wins wildly support in the selection as well as his working process. What is more, citing a recent study about the expectation of the mass to their leader, a large amount of respondents nod at the statement that lacking of honesty as the basic and crucial virtue of the politicians cannot make them believe in the promise politicians make to improve their lives. In such case, honesty is of great usefulness as the virtue of the politicians.
From what has been discussed above, we now can prudently draw the conclusion that considering honesty as the essential virtue of the politicians is following the masses' expectation of their leaders, whom they can definitely trust and depend on, though, sometimes not telling every truth makes some sense in politics. |
