------题目------
The study of history places too much emphasis on individuals. The most significant events and trends in history were made possible not by the famous few, but by groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten.
------正文------
History reflects the events and stuff in the past. Usually the study of history emphasizes on individuals in the events and to some extent, it ignores the importance of the groups of people that made the events and trends possible. However, in my opinion, placing much emphasis on the groups of people is equally essential.
First of all, the most significant events and trends possible may not be made possible only by a few individuals, in fact a lot people had devoted in these events. The ability and power of an individual is limited. In order to achieve a significant event, an individual has to depend others' support. Usually those who are memorized in history are the leaders of the events due to their ideas and thoughts that lead the others to accomplish their aims. Nevertheless, the impetus is the groups of people. For example, Lincoln leaded and conducted the Civil War of America. He is remembered by the American people and the study of Civil War usually focuses on him. Actually, his underlings and all the soldiers played a vital role in the Civil War. Without their efforts, Lincoln could not succeed in the end. Thus, the most significant events and trends in history cannot be separated with groups of people that joined them.
Furthermore, by ignoring the identities and fundamental roles of groups of people in history, people in the present may neglect the importance of cooperation. If the study of history emphasizes too much on individuals, people may consider that the ability and power of an individual is infinite. They can achieve anything without others' help and cooperation. For instance, in a enterprise, the cooperation among staff is very important and the employer places a lot of emphasis on cooperation. In this situation, if all the staff overestimate their ability and refuse to cooperate with others, the management of the company may be effected seriously. Moreover, placing too much emphasis on individuals may also influence the students. During their history study, they may only focus on the significant individuals and ignore these individuals' cooperation with other people. In this case, students may also lose the spirits of cooperation and even tend to be arrogant, which cause them be away with others. Therefore, too much emphasis on individuals may lead people to neglect the importance of cooperation.
Admittedly, in some cases the study of history may place a lot of emphasis on individuals. Focusing on individuals helps us to remember the historical events and trends. It is difficult for us to memorize all the people involved in a event, so the study of a few individuals prompts us to understand the event. In addition, sometimes the scientific accomplishments are the efforts of a few individuals. For example, the relative theory is the master work of Einstein. The study of the process of how the theory came into truth may only emphasize on Einstein. Also the trends of arts are usually several individuals' achievements. For instance, Van Gogh promoted the artifice of impressionism. Hence, in some situations, the study of history may only focus on several individuals.
To sum up, the fact that the most significant events and trends in history were made possible is the accomplishment and efforts of a few famous individuals as well as other groups of people. If the study emphasizes too much on individuals, the current people may gain the wrong information and ignore the cooperation of the significant individuals. However, concerning to the achievements accomplished by individuals, the study may only focus on them.
