152. "The only responsibility of corporate executives, provided they stay within the law, is to make as much money as possible for their companies."

As the leader of a big company, the corporate executive should not concentrate only on how much money is making but the responsibilities his company has made to the society.

Admittedly, one crucial of the corporate executive’s responsibilities is to make profits for his company. The income of one year’s marketing activities to some extent represents the executive’s ability of manipulating and communicating within business. He should pay more attention to the benefit of every contract, and analysis the competitors’ marketing plans in order to go ahead to grasp the forefront technologies and quickly occupy the relevant markets. The profits the company gets can be easily changed into the investment to be dropped into the next circle of producting. All these stay within the law that the company will accumulate the amount of capital and make an advanced progress.

However, money does not represent everything. The company’s development also relies on the responsibilities it has made to the society. Recently, more and more companies build their own corporation cultures that the social responsibilities are superior to the other factors. In order to disseminate their concepts, they make their efforts to attend into the public events to build their reputations. They surely realized that they should pay back to the society when they gain much from it. So we can see companies as the sponsors appeal in front of the public everywhere, such as the public good or welfare, the sports marches, the commonweal concerts and the international conferences. Broaden communicating with others could also help the companies to acquire new perspectives in administration or production. These behaviors are helpful to found the social reputations and make better impressions of companies, and meanwhile, the social public events are gained much supports than ever before.

In another words, participating in the social environment of a company shows the insightful long-term sight of the corporate executive. For instance: a big chemical company was built five years ago in my hometown which produced chemical materials for the labs. The company littered the poisonous garbage into the environment without management. The result was: the more products it had made, the worse the environment became. Not until the increasing ailments among the works that the chief executive of this company eventually realized the importance of the event. He immediately adjusted the maneuver of manufactures, dispatched a particular department executive to answer for it and invested to build a project to treat with the garbage. The environment gradually straightens up and there are no threats to the workers and other residents. In order to keep the neatness of the circumstances, the chief executive sets some disciplines to restrain the actions of the production lines and prescribes the punishments. The company develops better until now.

The social responsibilities are not just the governments’ duties, but also the organizations’ things which belong to the whole communications. It is short-sighted for an executive to gaze at money but not the social responsibilities to the further developments of the company.
