Does the study of history only benefit what is relevant to our daily lives? The speaker believes so, and I partly agree. However, in my view, the study of history also helps not only to establish a value system for modern people but also to inspire them with hopes through setting some good examples in history for them.

Admittedly, the study of history plays a significant part in our daily lives. I think it performs mainly in two aspects. First, the study of history provides us good stories for entertainment. Some stories in history are so meaningful and interesting that they can provide us both relaxation and wisdoms at the same time. Second, some lessons or experiences of the history teach us how to prevent the similar errors and how to do things better. For example, due to learning about the method of nonviolent resistance which led to the independence of India, Martin Luther King achieved the civil-rights reform in America. If he knew little about the history of India, maybe the black people in America still had to sit at the back of the bus nowadays. Therefore, the study of history is worth performing because of its positive effects in our daily lives.

The most important function of studying history, I think, is that it helps people living in modern society to establish a reasonable and effective value system. An apt illustration is the study of American history. When learning about the Revolutionary War through which America became independent, citizens of the U.S. will know how their freedom and democracy has come into being; when dabbling in the history of Civil War, they will understand what equality means; when looking back into the history of civil-rights movement, they know that true equality came with difficulties. Consider that without the study of all these history, how could the values such as freedom, democracy and equality are so deeply rooted into the American's minds. Therefore, the study of history quietly and efficiently influences the value system of a nation's citizens.

Another positive effect arising from the study of history is that some famous persons or events before will set good examples for the modern people. When we read stories about famous people in history, we are also greatly motivated by their respected personalities. For example, George Washington would teach us to act with prudence; Lincoln is going to show how to be a true honest man; Edison once said to us that genius is 1 percent of inspiration and 99 percent of perspiration; Bruno informs us how to be a real seeker after truth. All these personalities are priceless even in modern society and thus it is necessary and beneficial for us to learn from them.

In conclusion, there is no doubt that study of history benefit our daily lives. Specifically, the positive effect of forming a good value system by studying history should be emphasized mostly. And last but not least, we should take the rule of significant individuals or events of history into consideration.

B1,B2什么关系？价值观和日常生活是分开的吗？
B2的论述比B1强，不过好像总感觉还是不够有力。。。
你三段说的内容都是和日常生活有关吧。要说没关的研究内容。。。例如说研究人类起源并不影响我们怎么生活，但是这个问题仍然非常有价值对吧，即使只考虑纯粹的求知。还例如了解一些并不重要的史实仅仅是为了让我们对过去能有全面的图景而不会说人类存在这么久不知道之前发生了什么。

文章写得不错，也挺到位的，但是主要思想是从宏观上谈及历史的作用，此题对 only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives. 的反映应当是比较重要的， 你的文章在这里做的不是很好。
其实这种退而求广的写法不是很好的一个RESPONSE,最起码说明你对题目的真正意义体会的不是很深刻。如果你完全站在中文作文他立场上看，你是否对你的立意满意呢? 这就是问题的关键了。
