What is the benefit of the studying an academic discipline? The author asserts that it alters the way of perceiving the world and after such study, we can benefit for the different world brought to us. I strongly agree with the assertion, because it confirms our beliefs towards truth, corrects the false or incomplete views and increases our curiosity toward unknown world, all of which is significant in providing us a brand-new understanding of world.

On the one hand, the study of an academic discipline can confirms our beliefs towards truth. As we know, a lot of truth is not so simple that it is not quite perceivable for ordinary people without academic knowledge. Although some truth is accepted by the society, if there is no such knowledge, we will probably feel uncertain about it. Only when we have acquired such knowledge of a discipline, can we insist our belief. A good example comes from Bruno, who adhered to his belief even dared to challenge the Cope. The courage originated from the deep understanding of the discipline, which is based on the study process. Otherwise, his thought might stay as before, surrendering to false view. In another word, it was the discipline study that endowed him courage to challenge authorities. And such case is the same to us. If we do not process such study, we will have no basis to ground our different opinions on; If we are not familiar with the study, we will probably be wavering suffering the opposite voices. Therefore, when studying the discipline, we can see the world not constantly but much deeper, which is beneficial.

On the other hand, such study can also clarify the false or incomplete views. Most things in the world have advantages and disadvantages. We cannot neglect either of them before decision. However, in many cases, people would overlook some aspects of things, leading lost at last. After study of some certain academic disciplines, we can better understand the whole rather than one-dimension. A study, ecology, can well illustrate this point. Nowadays, people are more concerning the benefits brought by economy while neglecting future development and nature protection, and many of us may not know the importance. If people are provided the knowledge of ecology, we will recognize the significance in environmental protection distinct from our original sense. Such kinds of examples are abundant, teaching us not only the knowledge itself, but also the conception of a complete thought.

In addition, such study can increase us curiosities towards uncertainties, which also alters the former perceptions. Some people may claim the curiosities are innate. It is true that, such characteristics are born with people, while I would like to add the function of the study of academic discipline. In fact, the innate curiosities are shallow and easy to solve. After solving such simple questions, people will be tired to ask and take many things as granted, impeding the exploring for the unknown world. If people are supplied with sufficient knowledge, they will feel more desirable in finding new unknown world. And after that, curiosities will grow and human are more likely to attempt the brand-new world with brand-new eyes.

However, there are some people who doubt the benefits of study, for it may bring some complex in the process. I concede that it may happen when studying academically, making it hard to go on, but I should claim that it is not because of the study itself, but the methods to approach the discipline. If we can avoid the wrong methods, the obstacle will be swept, leaving the beneficial function perceiving world with different eyes remaining.

In sum, the speaker asserts that we need to study academic disciplines, on basis of which we can perceive world in different views. In my point of view, the assertion is quite correct for the reasons above. Without such study, we cannot be so firm and do doubtful. Without such study, we cannot recognize in different eyes.
