127"Facts are stubborn things. They cannot be altered by our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions."

Our world is composed with all kinds of facts. What is fact? Fact means something has actual existence. Their existences cannot be altered by our wishes, our inclinations or the dictates of our passions. As far as I am concerned, what we should do is to find out and use the specific advantages of facts, but not try to change those facts.

Reviewing the history of human being, it is a history written by individuals or societies that they want to use their desire to change facts. As an individual level, human beings often misconstrue facts by their beliefs, perspectives, experience. Firstly, being restricted by their limited knowledge about facts, sometimes human beings cannot understand the really characteristics in facts.
Until now there still are lots of facts outside of people's knowledge. When meet with those facts beyond human beings' knowledge, they incline to construe those facts by their own wishes. Secondly, when some facts cannot be consistent with the interests of human beings, they often incline to explain those facts by their own standards. Between 1960 and 1963, the mainland of China experienced severe famine and natural disasters. At that time, the government called for public to kill sparrows because they were unbeneficial birds and ate crops. But now sparrows are believed by public because some biologists found that some pests' bodies were in sparrow's stomach. In fact, sparrows choose food to survive by natural.  It is not beneficial or unbeneficial because when they could not find food such as worms what they can eat is crops. Our human being using interest standards to appreciate sparrows is unfair.

As a social level, being the needs of rulers to maintain their roles, they often explain facts in order to rule public. When Copernicus claimed that the Earth was not the center of universe but the sun was the centre of solar system, his statement was forbid by the government and popery. To maintain their rules in society, the catholic said that it was God who made human being and they were the preachers of God. It was naturally for public to listen the orders from the preacher of God. There are lots of examples that the empire or government maintain their interests by using facts deceive public.

Hence, what we should notice today is that keep facts as they are. A basic requirement of any field of study should respecting the facts and it is the cornerstone for the development of our society. With the objective view to research and find the characteristics in those facts, we could use the advantage of those facts and shrink the limits of those facts. Virus could induce several kinds of diseases such as flue, heart disease. Through research scientists found out the structure and replicate ability of virus. They invented medicines to destroy virus’ structure, while limiting its replication. On the other hand, the virus’s the specific ability to replicate in human cells is used to invent new medicines destroying cancer cells in tissues. Respecting facts, learning from facts, and using our wisdom to take advantages from them are the ultimate goal in study.   

Facts cannot be changed by our human beings’ wills, but we could take advantages from them by using our wisdom. Only through this way both individuals and society could get great improvements.

其实这道题和客观观察那道题很类似。什么是Fact, 由谁去定义fact，在教会眼中，地球是宇宙中心是事实，人是上帝创造的也是事实。所以fact本身是一个很vague的概念。Objective observation也是个很模糊的概念。这道题我也不会写。如果写的话，我会
1．        承认事实是无法改变的
2．        但我们经常错误的将一些事情认为是事实。科学的发展史就是怀疑，改变既有事实的斗争史。错误的认为自己的失败已成事实而不去奋斗，去试图改变。
3．        为了辨明事实的真伪，我们应该怀疑事实。
