Are our daily lives filled with diverse kinds of choices? Facing this question, I fundamentally agree with the author’s assert that the absence of choice is nearly race in most fields of our lives. However, concerning all circumstances, I should point out that in some areas of daily lives there is few choice.  
Admitted, with the rapid advancement of modern technology, great amounts of material and methods are capable. As all roads lead to Rome, plenty of choices are available of attaining our targets. For instance, no longer stick to letters, we can contact someone else by phone, fax, e-mail or some other means of communication. And, no longer relying on pens and paper, people are able to make record by video, typewriter, or computer. Further, thanks to excellent definition of democracy, individuals have much freedom to make social or political choices. Free to elect the best candidate in common people’s opinion as president can best illustrate the very point.   
However, free choices are not obtainable in all circumstances, or concessively speaking, in some certain circumstances of our daily lives, there is a decreasing trend of free choices.
In the first place, as the process of globalization and urbanization going on, people will feel a lack of choices of life styles. Despite of the material benefit globalization and urbanization brings to suburban people, it, gradually, ruins the special but natural life manners of suburban districts. When urbanites, being tired of machine-made city life, refer to the countryside for natural beauty, they would feel unpleasant for seeing the same life style. Similarly, globalization can also diminish culture diversity. Very ashamed to find out that many patterns of culture, which are part of thriving ancient civilization, are dying away. Even people can make long distant journey to enjoy this culture patterns, but in the museums, and not expressing their value naturally. As varieties of choices stand for the diversity available, due to high consistency of life styles and culture patterns, making choices seems to be unable.
What’s more, to some extent, facing restriction of laws, individual choices seems useless and effectless. Accompany with better definition of democracy and freedom, laws and legislations are getting more and more mature. As people’s behaviors must not go beyond laws’ permissions, in some circumstances, there is rare free choice of individuals. Taking terrorism for instance, fundamentally, crimes of this kind is fatal to the safety of all human beings, and accordingly, any citizen has the responsibility to fight against it, as laws do not entitle the right to join in terrorists or even show mercy on them. All people must comply with laws antiterrorism, and there is no choice whether to obey laws or go beyond the limits. Any form of defiance would get seriously punished. In other words, free choices are not free in this occasion.
To sum up, regarding the protection of diversity of life styles and culture patterns, and complying with all details of laws and legislations, can we enjoy the freedom of making free choices.
