Scandals reveal the ugly facet of the society to the public. In the politics and academia areas, it can focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker and reformer ever could. It can make the person who is the target in this scandal become notorious, and it can also solve this society problem. But in some other areas, scandal plays a role as demagoguery and advertisement to let someone such as some movie star known during one night, and has no real significances to solve any society problem. I will expound my opinion as follows.

In the politics and academia areas of a society, the leaders and the scholars always are the example for the citizens. They should show a fair and positive character to the public, so they must be strict with themselves and let the bad habit or immoral behavior keep away from them. Otherwise they will be reprehended by the citizens and then disappear from the glory politic and academia stage forever. For instance, one scandal that named the Watergate incident leaded to the result that Nixon had to abdicate the position as president. The scandals about that many scholars cribbed other people’s study results in their own thesis lead these scholars to lose their jobs and degrees, the most important things they lose is the honor and respect. So the scandals is real useful to expose some secrets and let us pay attention to face and solve these wrongdoing which the speaker and reformer never could achieve until those scandals are opened to public. Moreover, it can also warn the leaders and scholars that “If you want others never know it, please don’t do it!”

However, on the other hand, scandal is a good way to let some people known quickly. Take an example, a female star was be exposed by a scandal which said she was charged with stealing in a fashion-cloth store. While this case was researched, this scandal brought a film contract to her because that a movie company caught this scandals to be a big point of sale of this film, so the woman became much more famous than before and had a profit from this scandal. As we know, when scandals were happened to many singers and movie stars, they can use scandals to be a free advertisement for themselves. The use of scandals in this facet is changed.   

To sum up, we should have a correct attitude to treat the scandals. As a saying, nothing sells a newspaper like a juice scandal. People always pay so much attention to the scandals. We can give feedback information to the scandals in the politics and academia, and we should give only laughter to the scandals that is used for advertising the stars.
