Issue185   让砖头来得更猛烈些吧!
------摘要------
   576 words
------题目------
Scandals—whether in politics, academia, or other areas—can be useful. They focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could.
------正文------
Scandals, an eye-catching word especially with regard to a famous person or a well-known affair, which sometimes draw the public's attention away from the highlighted aspects, has  definitely be regarded as a complex and controversial issue. May scandals be useful for us to recognize the hidden reality of the key character? Or may scandals be only a measure for the media to make themselves focused? Are they more of a blessing or of a curse? Opinions among people vary significantly. To some the answer may be negative whilst I tend to agree with the speaker, for reasons having to do with scandals do indeed supply us a unique way to recognize the fact of the ones who suffers them.

The past several decades have witnessed scandals arisen around the world, which prove the fact that scandals can really give an impetus to social reforms. Several typically example around some of the most famous people of the United States can strongly support this saying.  Richard M. Nixon, the 37th President, during whose Presidency, he succeeded in improving relations with the U.S.S.R and China as well as in ending American fighting in Viet Nam. However, the famous Watergate scandal happened on him brought fresh divisions to the country and consequently led to Nixon's resignation. Judging from the examples above, we can draw the conclusion that a usual way of judging a man with perfect deeds might lead us to overlook the flaws the man owns. It is the scandals that draw the public's attention to the unknown aspect  of Nixon. And as a matter of fact, the scandals really existed and thus by the resignation of Nixon the divisions were stopped and hence the country was saved. Suppose no scandal was arisen by the media, the divisions might be drastically increasing and ultimately led to the country's breaking down.

Other examples can convince us that leaders or government parties always improve their performance for fear of scandals.  Chairman Mao Zhedong of China in 1970's even advocated arising scandals, he said, which was known to most Chinese people, "Only by scandals can our people recognize the real situations of our party; and only by scandals can we force ourselves to improve."  Another example is the love affairs between Bill Clinton and Monica Lewiski, which was somehow a private affair of Cliton, but actually forced him to do more positive deeds in order to cover the scandals. Though it is a unusual way, we have to concede it is a effective way to force the leaders or governments to improve their performance.

On the contrary, some arguers claim that scandals always misleading, and thus of no importance. Take Enron, which used listed as the 7th largest company in the United States, for instance. Suppose there were no media reveal the fraudulent accounting techniques and the blue chip stock, no one would know the black shade of this large company, and without prosecution it might arouse severe economic corruptions around the nation or even the world. We have to admit the scandals delivered by the media, since they are sometimes more of a blessing.

Overall, valid as scandals are still opposed by some people for its unusual measure to improve the society, it should be accepted in nowaday society, in which there are an increasing number of unknown aspects which are likely to give birth to future significant failures of the society, as the four main example offered have strongly suggested.

The past several decades have witnessed scandals arisen around the world, which prove the fact that scandals can really give an impetus to social reforms. Nixon, the 37th President, during whose Presidency, he succeeded in improving relations with the U.S.S.R and China as well as in ending American fighting in Viet Nam. However, the famous这个词用得好像不好 Watergate scandal happened on him brought fresh divisions to the country and consequently led to Nixon's resignation. Judging from the examples above, we can draw the conclusion that a usual way a usual way前面交代得并不清楚of judging a man with perfect deeds might lead us to overlook the flaws the man owns. And as a matter of fact, the scandals really existed and thus by the resignation of Nixon the divisions were stopped and hence the country was saved. Suppose no scandal was arisen by the media, the divisions might be drastically increasing and ultimately led to the country's breaking down. social reforms讲的不够

On the contrary, some arguers claim that scandals always misleading, and thus of no importance. Take Enron, which used listed as the 7th largest company 事么样公司in the United States, for instance.
