The law, a set of rules for society, generally found in constitutions, legislation, judicial opinions, and the like, that is used to govern a society and to control the behavior of its members. It is backed by the coercive power of the state, which enforces the law by means of appropriate penalties or remedies. It is designed to protect basic rights and freedoms, and to treat everyone fairly. Though some laws unjust under special circumstances, we should dispute in a civilized approach.
Since we live in a structured society associated with other people, laws would be necessary. Laws have been the glue that has kept society together. Laws help to maintain the society order, peaceful, stable. Courts contribute to social stability by resolving disputes in a civilized fashion. Property and contract laws facilitate business activities and private planning. Laws have been passed to inhibit social discrimination and to improve the quality of individual life in matters of health, education, and welfare.
Everyone has the obligation and rights to obey the laws in the society. Firstly, laws originated from populace, and its purpose is to protect people. If people do not obey the laws, the laws will disappear from people. Secondly, without laws, the world will become chaotic. For example, the law in Canada states that we must drive our cars on the right-hand side of a two-way street. If people were allowed to choose at random which side of the street to drive on, driving would be dangerous and chaotic.
One of the final goals of laws is fairness. However, despite the best intentions, laws are sometimes created that people later recognize as being unjust or unfair. For one aspect, it seems that the development of laws is somewhat lagging compared to fleeting changes. Some laws constituted reasonability a long time ago may consider not justify the situation nowadays. For another aspect, the judgment of right and wrong is different at different places and circumstances. Additionally, strong groups and individuals abuse their powerful positions in society to change the laws for their own interests. It dearly hurt the seriousness of the laws and the emotions of common people.
A citizen who feels that a particular law is flawed has the right to speak out publicly and to seek to change the law by lawful means. We should solve the problem in a civilized manner. If one who doesn't satisfy a special law resist the law by a reasonless way, such as rebellion, world-weariness, it destruct the original intension of the creation of laws. Through to speak out publicly and to change the law by lawful means, the kingdom of law will become more perfect.
