What are the responsibilities of corporate executives? People always first think of earning money. It is true that to make as much money as possible is very important to their companies. Then is making money the only responsibility of corporate executives? The answer is certainly not. Besides making profits within the law, corporate executives have to consider morality and social responsibility.

First of all, it is undoubted that the first goal of corporate executives is to earn money because it is the base for companies to live. For a company, in order to survive in the crucial and competitive society, it must have abundant fortune and money. Thus it can develop production, make advertisements, pay salary for its employees, and the like. In addition, the initial purpose to build up a company is also to earn money, whether for the executives or the investors. What is more, it is very common in our society to evaluate a company by its fortune or money. For example, the "Fortune" forum gives a list of the rich companies every year according to the whole assets of every company.

However, when making profits, only to obey the law is not enough, and moral issues should also be taken into account. We have to admit that the law still has some shortages and negligence, so sometimes even the money is earned staying within the law, it is not accepted by moral principles. For example, some company will use materials of inferior quality during the production in order to save cost, and then it is totally possible that the final product is of poor quality and easy to wear out. In many countries, such behavior is not illegal, but actually it hurts the consumer's benefit. Take another example, some bookman will add many broad or even sexy picture or description in the cover of book in order to get good market, however, such book can have bad influence on people, especially on children. Consequently, consider the moral matter and the long profits, corporate executives should make money not only staying within the law but also taking other facets into account.

Furthermore, companies cannot avoid their social responsibilities, which also need corporate executives' attention. Companies are an important part of the society, so they have obligation to take some social responsibilities, in other words, they should support the government's policy. For instance, they should respond the government's vocation to try to help the unemployed man and take part in charity activities. Moreover, as famous companies, they should be good models for other companies.

To sum up, although to make profits is vital to a company, it is not the only responsibility of corporate executives. Other facets, such as morality and social responsibilities, are also the important and unavoidable responsibility of them.
