When we are asked the question,[可以去掉] it is the beginner or the expert more likely to make important discoveries in inquiring, most people, including the author, may give a hasty answer failing to see the inherent merits and shortcomings in both of them. However, in my observation, it is unfairly to put us in such a dilemma; instead, I deem that both the beginner and expert should be attached same importance.
For one thing, consider the beginner, who is enthusiastic in making some achievements, who is creative in working, who is energetic in attitude, and who is also insufficient in experience. When entering a new area, everything common to insiders extremely arouses those greenhands' curiosity. Therefore, guided by their precious curiosities, greenhands continue adsorbing and assimilating everything interesting and useful, mingling the existed knowledge and new learned knowledge together, and subsequently transforming the combined knowledge into infinite power to making discoveries.[其实专家好象也是这样吧,我觉得主要突出CURIOSITY就可以了] It is never hard for us to identify such examples around us. Nash, the American mathematician who won the Nobel Prize for Economics, was completely a new guy to the economics area. However, by creatively applying the mathematics into the economic, the Game Theory of great significance came into being, which greatly propelled the economic area forward. Obviously, the fresh ideas, the enthusiastic, as well as other merits all help the greenhands make lots of achievements. However, those splendid successes do not disguise greenhand's inherent shortcomings, a typical one of which is the short in experience. Due to the lack of experience, most of the beginners are not able even to find the door to the success, not mentioning the success itself. So, in short, while we cherish the obvious merits of beginner, we cannot neglect their deficiencies.
For anther thing, consider the expert, who is experience, who is knowledgeable, who is sedate, and who is also less willing to try new ideas. As an expert, as we know, he/she must be a successful individual in a particular area. After achieving some honorable achievements, most of them may lose their passion in inquiring more truth underlying the area despite there still exist some unsolved problems. On the contrary,[这是有转折的意思吗?] honored and respected by other people, they are fond of maintaining the current status rather than going any further. As a saying goes, a life of ease make people soft. When it comes to the some of renowned experts, it is equally applied without exception. An telling[这个好] example is Newton. Hardly can anyone argue he was not knowledgeable or experience, considering the tremendous discoveries in various areas. However, in his late life, he seems to get tired of exploring new discoveries; instead, he changed his concern to mysterious alchemy and theology. Nevertheless, aside from those extreme situations, I concede that the experts are all experienced. All of them are equipped with profound knowledge, which are especially helpful in making discoveries. Einstein, Picasso, as well other individuals who are considered as success, most of whom have long been the tireless learners in certain particular areas, and after making achievements, they then become the experts. Accordingly, the implication of such experts is that the advantages of experts accelerate their speed for success, while the shortcomings may inhibit their longing.[balance of view 很好!]
So, taking two aspects into consideration, a coordinate marriage of [呵呵 不错]beginner and expert is a sound way to make discoveries, rather than emphasizing any of them. To this point, it is necessary, even desirable, for an individual to be a beginner and an expert simultaneously. Indeed, this sounds somewhat paradoxical. In fact, I mean anyone who want to make some discoveries, should learn the merits of beginner and experts, not themselves, which is curious and vigorous like a beginner in learning and working, sedate and intelligent in solving problems. In this way, can an individuals become a well-round individual, a combination of beginner's and expert's merits. Needless to say, it is the person who is most likely to make discoveries too.
In sum, taking the merits of faults of both beginner and expert into account, never can we assert any of them could be likely to achieve a success. Instead, the person who can really make discoveries, are always the person who have the merits of beginner and expert, no matter he/she is actually a beginner or expert in certain area.
