In modern world, many high-profile awards such as the Nobel Prize are provided to individual or group who contributes a lot to the process of science or social affairs. Some claim that the prize is damaging to society because they suggest that only a few people deserve such recognition, but I hold the opposite opinion that such prize should be granted to a few people for the reward of their contribution to society, and the prize is benefit to society, for it encourages people to hard work and self-improve, resulting in the development of society.

As the threshold matter, the high-profile awards are the prize for the great contribution of individual or group to the progressing of science or social affairs, and only a few people deserve it. Since the great contribution is usually based on the innovation and hard working, and cost many years efforts and devotement, and their accomplishment has largely impelled the development of science or society, only few people afford such process and self-proved to be worthy the reward from society. For example, the identification of the structure of DNA is the most significant discovery of the 20th century, by Watson and Crick, the owner of Nobel Prize. It is the foundation for the new field of human self-recognition and the method of study and curing diseases on the molecule level. Such contributions worth the prize. Thus, the high-profile awards as the reward for the contribution and effort of individual or group should be provided.

Moreover, the high-profile awards encourage people to hard work and self-promotion and thus benefit for social development. For one hand, when people realize that their hard work and effort, which will contribute the society and science, would be recognized and rewarded, they will be encouraged and intend to devote themselves to hardworking, and self-improvement is required to be more competitive and competent to won the prize, which is advantageous to the development of society. For the other hand, it is the fact that the prize will bring individual or group a sharply rising fame besides high-profile, for generally the owner of the prize is the top of the spheres and be focused by the society. And the famous people could be examples for people and encourage them to be hard work and self- improved, which is certainly benefit the society. Hence, such high-profile award stimulated the development of society.


Meanwhile, the adverse effect of the high-prize awards should not be ignored. Because the profile of both economy and fame of the prize, it is inevitable that some people will be over passionate to win the prize with some unfair and contemptible ways, such as cheating, greasing and defaming other competitors, which is of course damaging to society for the unjust consequence and the bad influence it caused. Thus, such malignant means should be condemned and corrected and the unjust prize should not be recognized and be accused by society to keep the just and reasonable of the prize.

To sum up, according to what had been discussed above, a conclusion could be drawn safely that the high-profile awards is for a few individual or group, attributing to the prize for their contribution and it is beneficial for society, for it stimulates people to hard work and promotion, though the adverse effect should not be ignored. However, it is necessary to limit the adverse effect spring up and encourage the bright side, resulting in the expect consequence of fair competition and self-improvement of person or group.

还有一点，就是如果获奖成为唯一目标的话，科学家们explore our world more and push technology ahead regardless of other aspects like human right, environment problem, as so on, which is apparently beyond the primary purpose of such prize and eventually result in social problem and even deterioration to human existence.
