——正文——
The speaker asserts that people always only remember a minority of those who contributed for promoting our society to advance by studying the history, but the treatment is very unfair to groups of people who are not famous, for they also devoted to significant events. I can no more agree to the speaker's claim.
As known to all, no matter what an event is, the leader is indispensable. An individual is required to act as a core role in organizing others, encouraging workers and managing the whole task. For example, Chinese people would not defeat the Japanese intruders during the Anti-Japanese War and built a new China without the wisdom and theories of Mao Zedong and Marx. Soft Ware would never appear in—not to mention prevail--the world if there is no Bill Gates. And every country would fall into pandemonium provided that having no presidents or being in the anarchical status. Indeed, the role of those extraordinary individuals--especially the leaders--can never be forgotten by the history.
Meanwhile, a project lacking a team of people to support and cooperate with may probably never be completed. In spite of the inspiration of a centeral person is requested, perspiration from more people is also essential to finish a meaningful event or impulse a critical reform. The Great Wall, which is so magnificent that no walls could parallel, once was only a whim appeared in a Chinese monarch's mind. This miracle in the realm of architecture would not exist in the world if the governor failed to gather his people to construct it regardless of consuming numerous money and lives. Thus, it is hundreds and thousands of people who devoted their life that created the amazing wall for realizing the monarch's dream. Consider the Civil War as another telling example. Without those who advocated abolitionism struggling with the slaver-owners, even though Abraham Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Speak a thousand times more, the African-Americans can still not be emancipated during the war. In short, the power of those groups of people who involved in vital events and trends in history should not be omitted by today's people.
However, over-emphasizing the significant role of certain famous ones played in history is not equal to other silent contributors. As discussed above, it is the interaction between leading individuals and groups of people that facilitate the society's development and construct the whole history. Although those who are commemorated by people live after them are often pivotal leaders that provided the initial thought or influential innovations, showing respect and appreciation to their supporters and conformists is also worthwhile to the society. Otherwise, the imbalanced acknowledgement would cripple people’s understanding to the importance of history itself. They may remember the name of Mao Zedong, but fail to realize how meaningful the history of winning the Anti-Japanese War is.
To sum up, only when the marriage of groups of people and famous few is realized, the important events and turnings in history can be achieved. Therefore, the attitude of neglecting the large groups backed the moguls should be prevented. |
