With the development of human culture, various televisions and television programs are brought to our life. Regarding the issue whether people can learn more from watching television than reading books, people have different opinions due to their different backgrounds and experiences. As a student, I believe people cannot learn more from watching television than reading books.

There are many advantages of reading books. Firstly, one can read a book at any time and any place. For example, reading a book on a bus is very common, but one cannot watch television on the bus. Secondly, one can make notes on a book, which is useful and easier for next review, while once the program is broadcasted, one cannot easily find it easily. Thirdly, knowledge on a book are more systematic and detailed, it can give one a full-scale understanding about something. But programs on television are time limit, so it can only introduce some easily understood knowledge in a simple way, scientific terms are rarely used in programs on television. That is also why books are still used in teaching and learning. So no one can deny these advantages of reading books that can be used as carrier of knowledge.

Furthermore, there are many disadvantages of watching television, which make it not beneficial for learning. For example, most programs on television are used for entertainment and commerce, so there are many advertisements during programs, even during one program. One cannot learn something continuously. In addition, during a program, it is harder for one to reflect on one point in a program, because once one does that, he or she would lose next points in the program.

In conclusion, there are many advantages of reading books and disadvantages of watching television, so people cannot learn more from watching television than reading books.
