The ability of cooperation is of great significance ever since intelligence exists. We hunted huge elephant together in ancient times and assemble cars on the production line from Industry Revolution. Then why the concept of cooperation looms so large now?
Surely because new trends of certain kinds are actually taking place and becoming increasingly manifest. Without collaborating with each other, it is impossible for us not only accomplish some missions which are too large for distinct individuals, however intelligent he may be, but work efficiently and economically as well.

People lived 5000 years ago could be respected by members of troops if he lived long and get sufficient experience. In ancient Greece, Aristotle was called encyclopedia since he read hundreds of books. However, nowadays, we may not exhausted knowledge in one specific field even if we devote our whole life on it. The accumulation of knowledge multiplied at an incredible rate, from stream to torrent. Moreover, the breakouts of scientific issue need interdisciplinary expertise. We could hardly imagine that a physicist can success without solid foundation in mathematics or an expert in biology tents to get rid of information from chemical field. Because of the needs of so much knowledge and the interaction between them, there is no wonder that the cooperation will become popular.

Secondly, we lived in a world where efficiency was exaggerated. And by cooperating with each other, people will work more efficiently. According to research, the efficiency of workers can be improved 7 times by introducing production line, which was invented by Ford. Such method allows workers, by cooperate together, to focus on one simple task. Since businessmen want to cut costs as much as possible, production line, whose basic idea is cooperation, will penetrate into every corner of the world. As Bill Gates said, the era that a programmer could design a set of software himself has passed. Billions of words need to be written in the software like windows vista. Cooperating well with colleagues is the only way to finish such a big project.


Most importantly, it is required, for our new society, to allocate the resource in a most effective way. This is what cooperation good at. Various resources of intelligent, capital and natural kind could be exchanged by cooperation in both international and interpersonal stage, thus bringing to most benefit to people involved.

Cooperation is a hot issue in the past, present as well as future. As long as human being exists, we will never stop cooperating. What we should ourselves very seriously is not whether we should cooperate or not, but how could we cooperate more and better.
