In the modern society, as the development of all aspects of becoming more complicated, specialization appears to be a trend and plays an important role.
But over-specialization makes one more intelligent in his /her own business and the two are not in the same area are just like two who are at the each side of a mountain. Therefore, to improve the quality of instruction at the college and university level, the faculty should be rich of experiences and profound knowledge, so that most of the faculty, however, no necessity of all, should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach.

In the field of science courses, including basic science and applied science, a great deal of practices and experiences which are the wells of inspiration, are needed. As interdiscipline becomes more and more popular, the knowledge of different areas is necessity. For example, the psychology requires the knowledge of medicine and biology, while the imitation of creature needs one understand biology and mechanic, and so forth. what the faculty of interdiscipline need to do is to group all the relevant materials through working in the academic worlds. Furthermore, working outside the academic world may inspire you accidentally, but one should be prepared for the accident. Walt who invented steam is an example in point that when he discovered the jumping pot lid motivated by the gas, he thought whether the gas can be used as the motivation of an automobile. After that, with his sweat and effort on continuous experiments, the first was invented. Without the experience of the time outside the academic world, there would be no of the invention at that time, even to say the industrial revolution. Thus, the time spent outside the academic world relevant to the courses makes contribution to the quality of instruction.

Besides, taking applied science into account, only the knowledge applied to practical life can manifest the value. If one merely spends all his/her time in the academic world and lacks the experiences of working, how can they teach the students effectively, only depending on the information printed on the books? Additionally, the stage of the college and university is a bridge between school and society, without high quality of instruction, how can the students better adapt themselves to the society.

As for the area of art and literary, the working time can bring them the creativity, motivation, and progress of composing. Faculty of art can insinuate themselves in nature and absorb the essence of nature to express their works. They also have the willingness to open an exhibition at public, so that feedback of their works would provide them with more possibilities. So do the same with faculty of literary, whose compositions can get in touch with people's heart, just like the works of artists.

Additionally, the courses of economic without examples and self-experiencing are no more than talking about the strategy of battle on the paper. It also can be expressed by the case that the planned economy is defeated by the market economy at last, for conditions is changing all times while the plan stands where it used to be.

Overall, the basic courses of the college and university need the faculty to spend time working outside the economic world in professions relevant to the courses, so that inspiration may be gained and major knowledge can be richened.  The feedback of their experiences will help them improve themselves in return, and at a further step, the quality of instruction improve

The relationship between the professor and the student likes the relationship between the tourist guild and the tourist. The professor teaches knowledge and skills to students as well as the tourist guild tells the tourists the history and information of a famous interest. Some argue that all faculty should work outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach, so that the quality of instruction can be improved. In my mind, although the working experience outside the academic work can bring benefits to instruction, not every faculty is necessary to work outside the academic world.

To begin with, the professor who has worked in the company outside college can teaches the practical information and skills to students. One of the major destination of college education, is to train the college students to be a professional person, who have the ability to competent for a special job related ones' major. When it comes to the human resource staffs of company, they require the graduate students not only has professional knowledge, but also master practical skills. However, the practical skills can not be learned from books, the best way to learn it is through the professor who has the relevant working experience. The study of economics can be a representative example. When college are hiring faculty teaching economics ,most of the them are required to have working experience in account or consult position before, so that in class they can tell the students some practical skills and information, which is not from books, including the practical case's analysis, the understanding of the demand and supply of market, the custom's psychology, and so on. The students, who has known the practical skills and knowledge relevant to their future work, will be more likely to find a job than others.

In addition, working outside is a effective way to get fresh and up-to-date knowledge for professors. The books are so static that the knowledge in them is totally out of date. Through working in some companies, the professors can understand the difference between the academic world and the engineering world. Take computer science for example. Before thirty years, Pascal is a computer language widely used in engineering. However, in most of the software companies, the computer language comes into the world of Java and .Net nowadays. One can imagine that the computer science students will lag out in rapidly developing computer technology, if the professor still used the books of thirty-years ago without contacting the engineering development outside the academic.

However, there is no need for all faculties to work outside the academic world. On one hand, some theoretical discipline, such as mathematics and the philosophy, can get little help from the company outside the academic. These professors should stay in the college and focus on the teaching and researching rather than spend time on working outside. On the other hand, working in the company is not the only way to process the fresh knowledge for professor, they can take part in the academic seminar as well as search information on Internet, since Internet has become the sea of knowledge and technology and can update the information everyday.

In sum, under the condition that the professors can make a good balance between the teaching and working outside, most of professors should be encouraged to work outside, except those teaching theoretical course. Also they should not overlooks other ways helping them possess up-to-date information.

今儿好不容易把时间限在了3小时。。。还是不行呀。。。思维还是很混乱。。。这篇估计也得重写。。。楼下的童鞋对不住了>_<

The genuine purpose of education is to satisfy learners' limitless appetite for knowledge, to help them apply what they learned from classes to real life, and what' more, provide the students with a sense of satisfaction and the teachers with a sense of achievement. For that matter, I am inclined to the author's claim although it is someway too hasty and excessive.

Students have to step into the outside society and bring into full play the knowledge and skills they learned at college sooner or later. From this perspective, colleges, as a place for students to prepare themselves for the future, have the responsibility to equip them with utilitarian knowledge. In the first place, by working outside in professions relevant to the courses, the professors can build a bridge to connect the theoretical world and the practical world, kick out the stale theories which the students might not need in the future job, and sift the most useful information to the students, which will help the students study more effectively. What's more, related in the job market, the professor can boost their knowledge about their job, and even give significant advice to them. For instance, share them some knacks on interviews, or on interpersonal relationships in company, which would perfectly be welcomed by the students. In short, to do a job related to their fields, will help the students better prepare for their job in the future.

In this knowledge-exploded age, educators will be left far behind in the academic world if they merely immerse themselves in the platform or the laboratory and do not keep imbibing the fresh thought and vanguard theory from the outside world. What’s worse, no student will be interested in a class which is filled with “boring theory”. However, if the professor can share with them some vivid example s/he encounters at work outside will not only attract the students’ attention but also foster them to understand the theories on the textbook better. A compelling example involves the classes in New Oriental—a famous English School in China. In New Oriental, the majority of the teachers have their own jobs which more or less have something to do with English, and almost every teacher have the experience of studying oversea before. They have a secret in common to keep the students concentrated in their classes, which is using their work experiences or oversea studying experiences to express the usage of a word or share their English studying skills. Through this way, the students never get bored and on the contrary start enjoy the class, which in turn motive the teacher’s enthusiasm for the job. It’s meaningful for the professor to work outside for the good of both the professor and the students.

Admittedly, under some circumstances, it might not be feasible for the professors to find a relevant job outside the academic realm. For instance, pure theoretical science such as Physics or Mathematics, or the humanities such as Philosophy, it will be a wiser idea to encourage them to place priority on their research or seminars instead of asking them to look for a job outside.

To sum up, besides some particular disciplines, I agree that for the sake of a better instruction quality, the professors should be required to work outside the academic world in professions relevant to their lectures.

Education, can be defined as a tool that assist society develop useful person with ability. To bring more students satisfied the need of society to our nation, teachers in school should hold the ability of professing social technique; so they absolutely should work out of school in professions relevant to the courses they teach. However, it is not black-and-white; all depend on the feasibility of teachers' and schools' capability. Financing, human resource, input-output, all should be considered, but the purpose of this measure will take great many capable men.

Teachers with social working experience would provide students lots of help. Society is what every student must face, some social technique won't be talked in books of school, and they take this knowledge only from the people beside them. Teacher is who teach useful information to students, not only the knowledge in notes but also the knowledge in society. The outside working experience can give teachers a hand to profess their students, and students are happy to accept this information. Some information like interview, hunting for a job, how to communicate with your colleague will be very helpful to this students, naturally, they must be grad to take this knowledge. Some university have notice the importance of teachers' social working experience. For instance, in my college, a teacher who came from American and had worked for HP for 10 years opened two courses, one is called' Business Skills for Software Engineering' and another one is called' English Communicating for Software Engineering'. We learn so much instrumental skills from his class, and we all adore him. Thanks to his class, the students graduated from our college present better than other colleges in working.

Not only do our students benefit from teachers' additional experience in outside the academic world, but also themselves. Technological innovation in our society seems quickly, this information teachers get from the outside school world will be accelerate their comprehension in the fields they research. Without the correlation of the theory and the pratice, all research they involve in won’t be useful to our society. For example, the researchers in Wall Street, they apply themselves to develop financial model without reality. This model became to the reason of financial crisis, which cause great damage to all over world; the harm of pure theory without pratice badly influeces every hole and corner of our lives. This fact prove that teacher in university and college shouldn't only research theory, they also need know if their theories are useful in the real world.

However, in this issue, it's not actual that all faculty should posses the history of working outside in the fields they teach. Firstly, the financing should be considering. Most of the company's salary is higher than university's, not everyone who has worked in society is willing to be a teacher in his/her fields, especially in well-paid areas. What is more, some subjects don't require this experience so much; the mainly work of these subjects are research. These subjects like theoretical science; the primary demand is a mass of experiment and certification.

Overall, thought it can't come true like the statement in the issue that all teachers should have this experience, teachers' experience outside school in their fields will give great instrumental to students and themselves.

Facultyespecially those who teaching in the class, is the key to affectstudents. In this issue, the author claims that all faculties should workoutside to improve their ability of instruction. In fact, working outside canhelp many of them improve such ability, whereas some other may have a betterway to achieve self-achievement.

The quality of instruction, which means theability student can receive and apply their knowledge, is composed of two aspectshow to learn and how to use theknowledge.

To begin with, for some faculty, workingoutside has a positive effect on their skills. With these skills he cancommunicate with students better. For example, the teacher can use some caseshe has met in his class to answer the students question that if the technologyis out of date or not. Furthermore, he can interpret some abstract words withhis working experience to make them more concrete, which helps student tocomprehend knowledge better.

Another advantage the faculty can get fromworking is that he can learn what abilities are required outside. He wouldteach his students better when he could use his knowledge to satisfy them. Somefields, especially those in engineering, require strong ability of applicationto deal with complex conditions. If the teachers do not know how to apply hisknowledge into the work, his students could not be capable of facing thosechallenges.

However, some faculty can improve theirinstruction ability without working outside. it is obvious that the abilityrequired and the research field are different from one faculty to another. Forsome teacher, if they take more time to find his fault by communicating withstudents, he will also help his students receiving knowledge better. Forexample, a teacher can explain the difficult phrases in computer games languageto make it more vivid as long as his students generally like playing games.Such behavior can emit students' interests to learn the course better.

Without working outside, a teacher can payhis most attention on research in the outstanding university lab. It has greatbenefit for students apply knowledge when they take some deep research withtheir teacher. Such things are very common in some basic subjects, like physicsand biology. Further more, the can learn more from working together becausethey can see how their teacher works.

In sum, some of faculty can improve theirteaching ability by working outside while as others do not need to do so. Tosome extent, the teacher who can help his students climbing up the peak oftheir research field by researching with them together must be a master ofinstruction.
