Ph.D. positions are available at the University of Tennessee (Knoxville, TN, USA) in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering (https://mabe.utk.edu/) in the area of guidance, navigation, and control with emphasis on autonomous space systems, air vehicles, etc. In addition to a waiver of tuition and fees, the Graduate Assistantship positions also provide your health insurance and monthly stipend in the amount of more than $2,000. Selected candidates could start as soon as Fall 2018 or Spring 2019.

The ideal candidate should have an undergraduate or graduate degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a closely related field of engineering and science. The candidate should be self-motivated and committed to getting a Ph.D. degree, and is expected to have a strong interest in guidance, navigation and control of aerospace vehicle systems. Candidates with experience in optimal control, convex optimization, mathematical programming, modeling and simulation, numerical methods, and machine learning are highly desired.
