TOPIC: ISSUE10 - "Governments must ensure that their major cities receive the financial support they need in order to thrive, because it is primarily in cities that a nation's cultural traditions are preserved and generated."

ISSUE:
The speaker maintains that it is responsible for the governments to ensure that their major cities receive the financial support they need in order to prosper. And he believes that the governments’ supporting is for the preservation and generation the nation’s cultural traditions which primarily relies on cities.Being the center of politics and economics, the major cities play a key role in the operation of the whole nation machine. The government do have to provide them with financial support. However,it’s not for the sake of cultural tradition. On the contrary, there are intense conflicts between the development of modern city and the preservation of cultural tradition.
To begin with, the governments should spare no efforts to support the major cities, since they are quite crucial in the nation’s flourishing and stability. Many people share the belief that New York,to a certain extent, could represent the United States as its trademark. Wall Street is the worlds’ financial heart and Broadway enjoys its unparalleled position of the song and dance drama field. In this way, major cities such as New York could bring the nation to the world. Moreover, big cities would also play as leaders in the whole nation’s development. Whatever else may be said ,most people would agree that a city could be to thrive without all kinds of cooperation with others, espcially its neighbors. In most cases, areas around big cities could gain a lot from such cooperation. Nobody could imagine how the nation and the world would look like if New York falls into ecnomic troubles . As it stands, the speaker’s view on governments’ duty is quite proper.
Nethertheless,if we turn our attention to the relationship between cities and cultural traditions ,the speaker’s assertion seems not so correct. In fact, the prosperity of modern big cities is a big challenge to the cultural traditions, which refer to the customs, arts, social institutions handed down by the nation’s forebears. Because of the tide of globalization, there is a temptation to set an unified standard of value, which does perform a good job eliminating the diversities of different cultures. As a result, people’s opinion ,which may evolve with time, is coincides with the degree of the district’s globlization. What is apparent is that, in major cities, people’s mind is much opener and easier to change than that of the relatively less advanced countryside. That is why the main voice of which advocates to abolish the monarchy in Britain mostly comes from big cities.A recent research conducted by the department of political at Cambridge clearly points out that the resentment to the monarchy in cities is much more stronger than that of the other regions. Therefore, emphersising the importance of cities in the preserving the cultural traditions nearly make no sense.
After the above consideration,we could come to the conclusion that government has the duty to provide the major cities financial support in the behalf of the whole nation’s development as well as stability rather than of the cultural traditions.

On the contrary, there are intense conflicts between the development of modern city and the preservation of cultural tradition.(句子明显进步哟)
To begin with, the governments should spare no efforts to(不会这种说法,是不遗余力的意思么) support the major cities, since they are quite crucial in the nation’s flourishing and stability(for a country‘s stability and prosperity。。 Many people share the belief that New York,to a certain extent, could represent the United States as its trademark. Wall Street is the worlds’ financial heart and Broadway enjoys(这个enjoy的意思是。。。) its unparalleled position of the song and dance drama field(百老汇的例子好像是文化方面的正观点,建议去掉加个纳斯达克之类的吧). In this way, major cities such as New York could bring the nation to the world. Moreover, big cities would also play as leaders(不能会所bigcity是领导者,该说的主要力量或支柱)in the whole nation’s development. Whatever else may be said ,most people would agree that a city could be to thrive without all kinds of cooperation with others,(不需要合作啊)espcially its neighbors. In most cases, areas around big cities could gain a lot from such cooperation. Nobody could imagine how the nation and the world would look like(n 和w看起来会怎样么,有什么反应) if New York falls into ecnomic troubles . As it stands, the speaker’s view on governments’ duty is quite proper.
Nevertheless,if we turn our attention to the relationship between cities and cultural traditions ,the speaker’s assertion seems not so correct. In fact, the prosperity of modern big cities is a big challenge to the cultural traditions(这是你的观点,跟我相反。呵呵,不过不影响我看),which refer to the customs, arts, social institutions (这个对cultural tradition的说法对吗?我不清楚)handed down by the nation’s (这个nation好像多余)forebears. Because of the tide of globalization, there is a temptation(与其说是诱惑不如说是形势所迫,与时俱进嘛) to set an unified standard of value(用axiology吧),which(如果是价值标准的话,应该是被用来做什么) does perform a good job eliminating the diversities of(感觉用among) different cultures. As a result, people’s opinion ,which may evolve with time, is coincides(两个谓语?) with the degree of the district’s globlization. What is apparent is that, (觉得直接用apparently更简洁)in major cities, people’s mind(用思想还是观点好呢) is much opener and easier to change than that of the relatively(relatively表述附近的么比如用abutting) less advanced countryside. That is why the main voice of which advocates to abolish the monarchy in Britain mostly(和前面的main重复感) comes from big cities(例如。。。随便说个比如伦敦).A recent research conducted by the department of political at Cambridge clearly points out that the resentment to the monarchy in cities is much more stronger (程度深,用strong不合适吧)than that of the other regions. Therefore, emphersising the importance of cities in the preserving the cultural traditions nearly make no sense.
After the above consideration,we could come to the conclusion that government has the duty to provide the major cities financial support in the behalf of the whole nation’s development as well as stability rather than of the cultural traditions.
