I147"Tradition and modernization are incompatible. One must choose between them."
my view: disagree
1 what is tradition
2 tradition is embraced by modernization
3 some tradition must give way to modernization

Nowadays, living in a environment in which the society develops rapidly and technology advances at a breakneck speed, people may
hold a view that tradition is out of date and cannot exist in this era any more as it is in the opposite side of modernization. However, in
my opinion, in many areas tradition are embraced by modernization, which is ignored by many people.

First, let's make it clear that what tradition is. When it comes to the exact meaning of this word which seems to be familiar with
everybody who has a common sense, many people will lose their words. Actually, it is difficult to give tradition an accurate definition,
which is a rather complex notion and demonstrates itself in so many areas such as language, value, art, architecture and behavior.
However, there is one point we are certain about tradition: it refers to old things and is handed down from one generation to another
which seems to be totally different from modernization which refers to the new things and are invented currently.

However, if we look into the so-called new things that represent modernization, we may find that the two seemingly contradictory
terms are combined tightly. Let's take language as an example. Although new words and new phrases are being produced every
minute, they are made up of the 26 alphabets and characters passed down from antiquity. And words of the past are still in use today.
It is the same with the value. We are in a period of pursuing individuality, however, the virtue of human being, such as compassion,
love, responsibility and so forth should be cherished by everyone. And in our daily life, when the spring festival approaches in China, we
have dumplings, just as at the Christmas in the West, they toast turkeys. Such behaviors all are our traditions that colorize our life in this era of modernization. When we hope to relax ourselves and turn on the radio, it is not so surprising to find similar melody that belongs
to an old and classic music in modern one. Tradition is all around us even if we want to choose modernization. And instead of impeding
the advance of modernization, it gives the latter a sound foundation to be based on.

Admittedly, in some aspects tradition must give way to modernization. When a group of residences of Qing dynasty is just in the place
where a hospital that is pressed for must be built, we have no choice but raze the historic houses for the health of the residents there. And when a festival has discrimination to a certain race or when a ritual violates humanity, in order to protect the modern belief that all
human are equal and fair, all we have to do is to abolish them.

In sum, although sometimes tradition has to yield to modernization to the utilitarian needs, it can be found in the latter and will never
be pulled apart from modernization.

First, let's make it clear that what tradition is. When it comes to the exact meaning of this word which seems to be familiar with everybody who has a common sense(这句话有点乱), many people will lose their words. Actually, it is difficult to give tradition an accurate definition, which is a rather complex notion and demonstrates itself in so many areas such as language, value, art, architecture and behavior.
