The reading passage is about the advantagesof salvage logging. It contends that salvage logging would help recovery offorests, cut down the quantity of insects and make economic benefits and morejob chances. However, in the lecture, the professor argues that each benefitsare questionable and unsubstantial.开头很好!

In the first place, according to thereading passage, removing damage trees can avoid the long decomposing periodthey need and growing new trees instead can accelerate the recovery of forest.However, according the professor, cleaning up dead trees is unnecessary,because the decomposition of dead trees can supply soil with rich nutrition forthe growth of future generation. Thus, the removing work can lead to lack ofnutrition in soil and retard the speed of recovery. This is the firstcontradiction between the reading and listening material.

Secondly, the reading passage argues thatdead trees may be habitats of insects, which would have negative impact on thehealth of forest. Ironically, the professor points out those insects have <我觉得用bring更好吧> long-term benefits for forest instead. They all take important parts in biologysystem of forest. Thus, the rotting trees turn to be native dwellings forinsects. This is the second place where lecture weakens material’s point.

Finally, the reading content claims thatsalvage logging can provide damaged trees for factory and create more positionsfor local residents. But the professor raises the idea that the recycle ofdamaged wood may require high-tech and costly equipment like helicopter, andthose jobs would <be> temporary and limited just for local people. This is the lastplace that lecture goes directly against the reading material.
