Students admitted based on an English language
proficiency score other than the CanTEST (i.e.
TOEFL, IELTS, etc.) are required to take the
CanTEST (reading, writing and listening
components only) at the earliest opportunity, at
the University of Manitoba or elsewhere, and to
achieve a score of at least 4.0 on each of the
three components. If a student fails one or more of
the three components of the CanTEST (reading,
writing and listening), the student must complete
the following two requirements within a year of the
student's program start date:
a) The student shall take one or more remedial
ESL courses, as prescribed by the Department,
and
(b) The student must also retake the CanTEST
and achieve a score of at least 4.0 on each of the
failed component(s).
Failure to complete these two requirements within
the prescribed period will result in the student
being required to withdraw.
