The most impressive video I have watched from Ted talks is about the evolution about the earth, when I watched the video I cannot stop thinking how can the professor know that much? He gives the introduction of the history of solar system, description about how creatures in the world evolutes and what causes global warming and so on. It is an amazing presentation and do makes me to believe a wide range of knowledge is more important than specialized one.

To begin with, a broad knowledge can promote research on certain area. Since many disciplines are connected, extensive knowledge can help people pursuit their academic achievement. For example, experts on ecosystem cannot embark on their research if they know very little about botany, animal and other related subjects, because the ecosystem is too complex. Similarly, those who want to contribute to the research about outer space will hardly succeed if they are not good at mathematics and geology. What's more, how can people commit themselves to solo science if they cannot even utilize computer science which ensures the efficiency of considerable amount of research work? Knowing more can certainly help people perform better on specific subjects and thus it is necessary.

Moreover, trying to grasp a great deal of knowledge can benefit people's brains. Though the process of learning other science, people can memorize stuffs faster and get better understanding about the materials they read. As the old saying goes, practice makes perfect, which is also true for people's brain, the more people use it, the smarter it will be. For instance, it has been proved that Einstein's brain is more complicated than ordinary people resulting from his persistent using of his brain. Therefore, scientists will obtain not only the knowledge itself from learning, but also the improvement of their brain, such as advanced critical thinking and sound opinions.

At last, grasping a wild range of knowledge allows people outcompete their opponents leading to getting closer to success, especially in the working place. For example, people who have mastered several foreign languages may help the company win international orders; those who are not in the finance department can realize improving of the pure profit due to learning of finance management. The list will go on. Such people are more likely to get promoted and can achieve success before others.

In all, since everyone has only 24 hours a day, why not learn more instead of focusing on a small piece of cake.

Some people say that the Internet provies people with a lot of valuable information. Others think access to so much information creates problems.
Which view do you agree with.

才提笔时接到电话，半个小时过去了。。。
提笔之后，写high了，这篇完全没办法限时写。。。

Obviously, almost every invention or contemporary development pales in comparison to the advent of the Internet which brings about an unprecedented revolution of the way of people's lives. People read news and magazines from the internet, as well as watch movies, some of them even become addicted to updating Facebook status. Since the Internet has been giving us so much information that a certain proportion of individuals begin to worry that it might cause potential problems at the same time. However, I think the advantages of the Internet far outweighs all other harmful effects combined.

First, the Internet imparts knowledge worldwide which is priceless. A student from a poor family of Africa, for example, is unable to afford the university tuition fee and has to attend job market to sustain the whole family, earning little payment in a small factory. In the past, maybe he has to keep living like this for decades, but with the assistance of the Internet, he can improve himself by learning almost everything through the Internet. He could become a lawyer or a teacher only if he gets the access to the Internet and commit himself to what he wants to achieve. Thanks to the Internet, his life will be dramatically different, so does his family. Since the Internet ensures such great benefit to an ordinary individual, how much the total benefits might be for the whole society!

Besides, it is not an exaggeration to say that the Internet thoroughly changes the way people live. For example, the missing of a pet can draw hundreds of people's attention in only few minutes resulting in the coming back of the little dog during the day when it lost; the best hotels or restaurants of a new place can be figured out just by typing specific key words on the keyboard; the disable can virtually view all the places of interest at home no matter domestic sights or foreign landscapes; the list will go on and the benefit will be endless.

Apart from all the benefits the Internet has been producing, as the most attractive good point is always associated with money, so does the Internet. People love internet not only because it leads to a better live, but also enable people to make profit. Arranging from merchants who sell goods on the internet to ordinary civilians who compare the goods' price for the lowest pay, people gain profits from the Internet, what can be more valuable than knowledge mentioned above and cash?

In relation to the problems about the consequences of extensive information from the internet, I am convinced that each of the issues can be overcome through the medium of the Internet, because people are getting used to solve all kinds of problems with the help of Google. Likewise, how to minimize or eliminate the bad influence of the Internet? Millions of solution will come up resulting from search engine among which at least one approach is available. Therefore, I cannot agree more with the opinion that the Internet has been offering and surely will continue to provide considerable amount of value to human beings.

Playing computer games is a waste of time. Children should not be allowed to play them.

According to a recent investigation, millions of people spent more than three hours a day playing online games which is causing public worry about our young children. Some people argue that it should be forbidden for children to play computer games. However, I think it is too absolute to hardly allow children to get access to the games. If only the time spend on the games is well under control, children can indeed benefit from playing, because playing online games enables children to relax, broaden social net and even obtain considerable sense of achievement.


To begin with, playing games is a popular way to relax which can be suggested to be true through the numbers of players and the hours people spend on that. People become addicted to online games partly because they are exhausted with daily life stuffs especially annoying ones. An ordinary senior high school student, for example, has to do various kinds of homework until 10:00 PM almost every night, and has to attend out school activities during the weekends. Having fun in front of the computer screen for two hours once a week ensures the child enough relaxation which is certainly a healthy way. If children are able to obtain happiness from it, why should parents inhibit them from that? Not to mention two hours' playing will not do any harm for their children.


Secondly, children can make more friends through the game which is absolutely beneficial. Through making friends on the internet, it not only improves their communication skills but also develops personal interest, making the children to be more open. Take an extreme case for example, since the children are not permitted to play games, they may feel a sense of loneliness and thus become unwilling to talk to others resulting in severe mental illness. Therefore, online games, to a certain extent, may help shaping characteristic， and parents have no reason to prevent their children from communicate with their personal social net.


Finally, since children gain the sense of achievement from the games, playing games virtually plays a positive role on children. In most games, players have to finish specific tasks and will receive awards from the mission after finishing it, it brings about a sense of excitement and self-confidence. Some children feel upset when facing criticism from teachers and parents, the more criticisms they receive, the more easier they become depressed. However, they can perceive the sense of accomplishment through the game which is significant for their performance in the coming days.


Although playing games too much time make adverse impact on children, once the hours spent on games can be restricted to a certain range, the advantages of playing will outweigh the disadvantages of playing online games.

Technology has made children less creative than they were in the past.

During the past century, the most remarkable change is absolutely the development of technology. The advent of various electronic devices enables a more convenient lifestyle, the highly sophisticated medical instruments have cured millions of people's lives, and the list will go on. However, people begin to worry about such brilliant improvement will affect the next generation's ability to innovate. In my view, technology can by no means block the way of children being creative, on the contrary, it largely promotes the young generation to be more innovative.

To begin with, children get access to considerable amount of information nowadays which are essential for them to cultivate creative minds. A twelve years old boy from America, for example, has designed an Apple App to teach people how to programme, and he is the first one to achieve this. Without the information, ranging from how to use the Apple Tablet to App market, how can he made it! Obviously, it is unimaginable for his counterparts living decades ago, since they have none such progressed technology.

Secondly, the technology has brought about numerous smart tools, such as computer, which allows children get closer to innovation. Since technology has improved the way people works, it makes the young to learn and research more efficiently. For instance, during the past, students majored in astronomy may have no way to certify some guess about the outer space or the stars they are interested  in and thus had to suspend their research. However, thanks to progressive technology, young researchers nowadays, with developed telescope, can do much deeper research without worrying about the limitation of devices. Therefore, technology plays a significant role in students' creativity nowadays.

At last, technology accelerates the process of creation because it makes education easier. Due to the computer and the Internet, people can be educated much easier than before, they can read through their smart phones or laptop on their way to school; they can watch the class videos of famous professors on line, even for free; children who cannot afford the tuition fees can learn by themselves with the assistance of advance technology. In all, since an increasing number of children are getting involved in education, an gradually large proportion of them will be creative than their counterparts.

Television advertising directed toward young children (aged two to five) should not be allowed.

Research has shown that each person, consciously or unconsciously, watches nearly a hundred commercials every day. The target customers ranges from the old to adults, which also involves young babies. Some people insist that the commercials directly toward the young should be abandoned. However, I would argue instead that the advertisement toward babies hardly do harm to people and thus have no reason to be limited.


To begin with, the advertising of goods and service about the young dramatically promotes local economy. First, it allows people, especially parents, know more about the commodities that are associated with their babies resulting in improving of purchasing. Second, both the advertisement company and the television station gain considerable profits from the broadcasting of the commercials. Therefore, the baby related business is boosted leading to the development of local economy.


What's more, the advertisement toward the young can never mislead the young because it is their parents who pay for the check. Some people worry about the content of commercials might be misleading, but it is undeniable that babies of such young age, from two to five, are too young to make sensible decision. Generally, parents make the decision of buying or not. For example, when parents think the goods in the commercial are not suitable for their children, they will not pay for the goods. Since the purchasing of goods will be confirmed by parents, why bothering about the potential misleading of the young?


Finally, since the specific law about commercial has been announced, there is no need to worry about the effect brought about by advertising toward the young. Cigarette, for example, are forbidden to be shown in the advertisement. Likewise, those should not be accessible to the young will not appear on the television too. Moreover, thanks to the law and the government, the content of the advertisement have to be approved before broadcasting, it is save for parents to choose the goods and service from television commercials. In addition, since the health of young children is of great importance, the supervision of the commercial's content are even more strict and careful than those advertisement toward the adults.


In all, people no need to worry about the effect of television commercials, they can not only enhance economic development but also offer more choices for parents. People can trust the advertisement due to the strict law and our responsible government.

Since the Yellowstone fire in 1988 brought about influential effects on the forest, some criticisms about the "let it burn" policy come out and the speaker states challenge about these views. Because after the fire, the situation changed.

On one hand, the land was considerably damaged by the large-scaled fire resulted in the death of numerous plants. However, it also created opportunities for new plants. For example, smaller plants, which need open and un-shade area, were able to survive in the new environment; meanwhile, seeds which need high levels of heat were more likely to germinate. Therefore, the plant species became more diverse.

On the other hand, the big fire influenced the wildlife living in that area and thus affected the food chain. But, the new land also offered opportunities for animals. Small animals, for instance, appeared after the fire such as rabbit and hare, as a result, the number of their predators and other animals grew as well, and the food web became even more stronger.

Finally, it has been suggested that the fire impacted the tourism. Nevertheless, the fire of such scale happened only once since 1988, resulting from the unusual low rainfall and dry wind. Tourists increased the year after the fire and thereafter.

Learning about new knowledge, in the main, can be categorized into two basic aspects: theory and practice. Some people argue that students have to memorize those items and then put them into practice, and the major function of the exam is to check whether or not the students have grasped those ideas and concepts. However, I insist that too much emphasis has been put on the theory study, and learning through facts should be pay more attention because it is of greater importance for several reasons.

To begin with, students gain more from the process of learning in practices. Facts enable students to check the theory they have learned, experiments are often acquired after most classes in order to offer the opportunity for students to observe and summarize. What's more, students can understand the knowledge better through practice. Students majored in marketing, for example, will certainly know better about what does target customer mean after a market investigation than attending classes. In addition, some faults and drawbacks about existing theory are detected in the practice, and other new theory are bore in the practice, in all, practice learning is absolutely necessary and is more important than theory learning.

Secondly, since the aim of learning is to apply in people's daily life, learning in facts should be paid a higher degree attention. Nowadays, some students learn ideas and concepts in order to pass the exam and obtain their college degree while ignore the significance of practice. If they can only pass the exam, how can they apply? For instance, medical students handle well about what the teachers say but are not capable of curing patients; law students with certification cannot win cases for their clients; the list will go on. Therefore, it is misleading for students to over-estimate the importance of understanding concept and ideas in theory only.

Finally, a good performance in learning in facts ensure students to be more competitive. Since learning in practice provide practice experiences and improves the student's practical skills, they are more competitive in the future job market, compared with those who know numerous theory but can hardly practice. This has been certified in the job market now. Those who master better practical skills, earn much more money than those who got a lot of A but rather poor experience.

In short, I strongly support the idea that students should pay more attention on the learning in facts.
