Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Children should only play sports for fun, not in competition or contests.
As our society developed, people’s physical and psychological health has become a heated issue as ever being. Children, who are the hope of our future, are the main group which is asked to do exercise and play sport every day. In order to foster future athletes, some children are even send to compete with other youth athletes. Should children be involved in fierce contest or should they only play sports for fun? For me, it depends on the real situations.
I totally agree that children should play sports for fun. But, it does not mean that they should play sports only for fun. Playing sports, besides for fun, also has many other advantages. Children can get necessary exercises and it will do good to their bodies which are under growing. What’s more, while playing sports with friends, their friendship can be enhanced and also they can get some basic ideas of team –work. Other from get amusement, children can get many other harvest from playing sports.
If the child is a talented athlete that he or she is very interest in sports competition, then why not let the child do it? Not everyone can be a great athlete, why waste the talent others would dreamed of. Some people may concern that the sport competition would be too tough or crucial for little children, but people are very different. For someone it’s pain but for others it can be fun. If the child likes the competition and enjoy it, then why not let him or her do it. There is nothing to lose. As far as I know, many Chinese athletes, who won gold medals in international competition such as Olympics or world championship, are trained from very little. The competition teaches them to face failures and gives them the courage to confront with it. The motto of the world greatest sports competition is faster, higher and stronger which is also much needed in everyone’s personal life. Children who play sports for competition will also learn these sprits.
Someone may argue that children who play sports in competition may have no time for learning knowledge in schools or play with other children. But if it’s the children’s own idea, there is no reason to say no.
As a conclusion, play sports can help children learn a lot of things as well as having fun. Whatever the purpose is, let the children themselves to decide it.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Parents should give school-age children money as a reward for getting a high mark (grade) in school

Nowadays, exam results play an important role in getting into a good high school and university which at the same time draws much more attention from parents than ever before. In order to encourage their children to study hard, parents would give some presents or make promises to realize wishes to them if they get a high mark in school, like buying some books or going to Disney land together. Some parents may even give money according to different score levels to their children as a reward. For me, I think it’s a good idea that killing two birds with one stone.
Firstly, we all know that studying is not easy. There are too many subjects to be learned, bundles of books to be read and countless exams to be taken. Children are under big pressure while studying and may feel tedious or lose patience during the process of studying. Making them keeps the enthusiasm in studying with some gifts when they have done well in exams is very important. Obviously, giving some rewards when they get a high mark is a positive sign which implies working hard will get some harvest in the end. The reward, as a triumph mark will make the children be more interested in study.
We are living in a world which emphasize economic than ever before. It’s a basic rule that should be known well by everyone. Giving money instead of other kinds of gifts to school-age children can help them to get some basic concepts of the money. They can learn how to deal with limited resources – money to satisfy their different aims just as how to deal with the limited time on study and play. I do believe that if they can use money wisely they would also be good at budgeting their time on study. In this way, children may also be able to foster a good money habit which is very essential in modern society when they live independently.
To summarize, giving money as reward to school-age children would cast their interest in study and encourage them study hard and also help them to have a basic concept of money and foster a good money habit from their little age.
