University students should be required to take basic science classes even if they are not part of the field of the study。

Should university students be required to take basic science classes? There are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes. Some people claim that university students must concertrate on their fields of the studies. However, others hold the opposite opinions. As for me, I strongly suggest that university students should take some basic science courses for the following reasons.

The primary reason is that it is a essential guidance of experts in the field of education. Students are not always the best judges of what they will find useful in the years. Taking basic science classes is helpful for us to broaden our knowledge as well as make a solid foudation for our future concertrated studies. Whatever the students will concertrate on in their senior years in college, it is necessary that they choose some basic science to build the knowledge foundation. Take the field of Business Management for example, the students have to acquire knowledge in calculus, statistics and algebra before they can sucessfully start their major concentration studies. Thus, with the basic science, we easily get access to our field studies.

Another reason can be seen by ever person is career preparation. Along with high rapidly economic development, people who have interdisciplinary and comprehesive knowledge are welcomed by some multi-national companies such as IBM, P&G. In addition, nowadays, the job market is much competitive. If a student take a variety of basic subjects in his university study and gain a breath and width of knowledge, he will be able to adjust to many kinds of job. This will put him in a favorable position in the future job market. For instance, an English translator needs different backgroud knowledge if he is working in a IT field. When he translates some articles, he can do that more accurate with some science knowledge.

Although taking such basic science classes will cost students’ much time and energy which are limited, the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages in this case. Considering the guidance of experts study and preparation of future career, I still insist that basic science courses should be taken by university students.

2.17To solve problems present and future is it necessary to understand the past

In these fast-paced times, it seems that we are always looking toward the future planning and hoping for a better tomorrow. It is true that advances are being made very quickly these days in almost every field, making it almost a full time job just to keep up. However, none of these advances would have been possible without steps made in the past. I strongly agree with the statement that it is necessary to understand the past to solve problems present and future for the following reasons.

The primary reason is that we can build upon the achievements of those came before us. We receive knowledge from the past and we able to use it and improve it. We examine our action in the past and we make judgments about what was right and what was wrong. Then we will avoid those same mistakes again. The wheel, for instance, which nowadays we use for cars were invented in ancient China. With the design, we no longer have to invent the wheels, and then just develop them on the foudation of the ancient wheels. Thus, through the knowledge from the past, techniques are easily made better.

Another reason can be seen by every person that most of the knowledge that we have today is a result of all the work of our predecessors. Columbus discovered America and agured that the earth must be round. With this discovery, Americans began to trade with Europeans. Another example is that, the ancient Chinese developed seismology, which helped today’s scientists analyze the seismograph, which in turn gave us a new understanding of our place in the universe. The great majority of technology today depends directly on several thousands of years of work of past thinkers. To ignored the knowledge of the past would be to throw away five thousand years of histiry and experience.

Altough we always should focus on our present and future plans, learning from the past carries much more weight. No only can we build upon success on ancestor’ invention, but also do receive some knowledge from our predecessors. So I still insist that it is essential for us to learn some information from the past.

2.例子讲得很详尽啊，我要好好学习。还有就是concentration这个词的用法能否可以用多点的同义词进行替换呢？

2.18 Government should pay more attention to health care issues than on environment issues

Along with the high-paced economic development, more and more buildings are constructed and forests become less and less. Ecological balance is damaged because factories occupy many places where animals and plants live. If government blind to this point, it would pay heavy price. Thus, I strongly insist that government should more focus on environment issues.

The primary reason is that due to “the green-house effect”, air pollution becomes serious. Human activity decreases forests and increases the usage of fuels so that the more gas of carbon dioxide is output, the less plants can absorb it. The green-house effect is more obvious and more sensible these years. Because of the effect, icebergs in the south polar and north polar melt and the sea level becomes higher than before. According to a prediction conducted by Italian Scientific Research Institution, Venice will be submerged by water in future. In view of such serious situation, effective measures should be taken by government before things get worse.

Another reason can be seen by every person is that increasing pollution not only would cause serious problems such as global warming, but also could threaten to end lives of animals and humans on our global. An increasing number of farmland and forest are distroyed, a lot of animals lose food and habitat places that it is difficult for them to survive. Plants, animals and people all depend on each other. An unhealthy environment can have harmful effects on the ecosystem. For example, if a plant dies because of changes to the environment and that plant is food for a animal, that animal willnot have any food. If humans use that animals as a food source, there could be big problems. So the authorities should concertrate on environmental issues.

From what have been discussed above, I safely draw the conclusion that environment issues should be put on the first place by the authorities, because of the serious pollution problems and the threaten to lives of humans and animals.

总结：整篇文章都不错，结尾挺好，但是还是有点小问题。句子转换不大够，由于本人看文章喜欢先看主题句，所以觉得主题句陈述可以更明确点。-nicole

狐狸MM的文章整体论述没什么问题，例子也很好，开头结尾我都很欣赏哦。。。
只是在主体段部分的论述过程中，句子与句子之间的衔接和连贯有点问题，比如，第三段中突然出现这样一句话Plants, animals and people all depend on each other.那么他与你的上下文的论述有什么逻辑联系呢，你要用连接词强调一下因为Plants, animals and people all depend on each other.所以动物危险也会造成人的处境危险，然后再提出这里有个例子来说明这个问题，是blablabla…
说的有点啰嗦了哈，我自己对英语文章的理解是这样的，每句话必须与上下文衔接紧密，使段落形成一个整体，所以我看作文时很注重这些，如果有不同意见，欢迎一起讨论啊(*^__^*)

3.1 Playing sports teaches people lessons about life

Along with the rapidly economic development, people in growing number are beginning to compailn that work is more stressful and less leisurely. In order to release the pressure from work, people tend to take some physical exercises. In my view, playing sports not only contributes to our physical fitness, but also teaches us courses about life.

The primary reason is that playing sports will develop our interpensonal skills, which will put us in a favorable position in the future job market. Many sports are team work, such as basketball ball and soccer. If we want to play them well, we must master some skills to care about what our team menbers are thinking and how to adapt each other to achieve a common goal. Sports are not an individual activity, it needs corporation and mutual understanding. This is not easy to master. In addition, if we are the team leader, we cannot seem to fail to take into account the coordination ability. Merits of each person should be placed considerable emphasis and used in a suitable position. Consequently, by instructing us knowledge, sports play an important role in our lives.

Another reason is that taking parts in the sport games teaches us how to face the difficulties. I may take the running as an example. I joint the women’s 800m long-distance running in last sports meeting. As we know, the last part of long running is hard to stand. Even though I lost the game, I also learn that persistence can lead to victory, which is essencial for our career. What is more, these games also teaches us to face defeat bravely, which is in turn helps us face failures in life. When we confront the failure, we should not give up and try up to live up our ideals. An old saying goes that failure is the mother of success. Thus we acknowledge a lot from sports.

From what have been discussed above, I safely draw the conclusion that we gain a huge amount of knowledge from sports game. Because it not only develops our interpersonal skills, but also teaches us how to face the difficulties.

running in last sports meeting. As we know, the last part of long running is hard to stand.  
Even though I lost the game, I also learn that persistence can lead to victory, which is  
essencial for our career. What is more, these games also teaches us to face defeat（可以换challenge） bravely,  
which is in turn helps us face failures in life. When we confront the failure, we should not  
give up and try up to live up our ideals. An old saying goes that failure is the mother of  
success. Thus we acknowledge a lot from sports.
From what have been discussed above, I safely draw the conclusion that we gain a huge amount  
of knowledge from sports game. Because it not only develops our interpersonal skills, but  
also teaches us how to face the difficulties.
理由选得不错，但是我个人觉得用词方面还可以有所改进

3.2 It's better to watch serious movies to get deeper think or watch movies that amuse or entertain you.
Along with rapidly economic development, people in growing number are beginning to compain that work is more stressful and less leisurely than in the past. Thus, an amusing movie plays an extremely role in modern society, making people relax, laugh and keeping them in good spirits.

The primary reason is that it is a wonderful way for us to release the pressure from our studies. Education experts point out that it is equally important for students to wacth some amusing movies when students have spent the whole day in a boring classroom. An entertaining movies make us laugh which will take our mind off the troubles of the day. Ice Age, for example, is really an entertaining movie. When I watched the lovely animals with funny action, I forgot all the annoyances. After the moive, I then feel ready to get back to work on my studies. Consequently, when we want to have a rest, we can watch an amusing movie.

Another reason cannot be ignored is that entertaining movies will develop our sense of humor. This will make others more willing to listen to my stories and bringing more fun to my life and lives of others. For instance, my friend, Lily was upset when she failed in the Chemistry exam. I imitated her favorable character who conveyed a good moral. And then Lily not along feel sad. In addition, Laughing not only makes people feel good, but also connects people. When people laugh together, they become friends. It will also develop our interpersonal skills which will put us in a favorable position in future job market.

Although a serious movie can give us something to think about and help us gain some life experiences, I still insist that an amusing movie far outweigh a serious movie. Because it will not only help us release the pressure, but also develop our sense of humor.
