1. it is not really reasonable to compare a country (US) to a city (HK). a country like US is much bigger, and thus have space for variety. It will be much more reasonable to compare......like NY to HK, to SG, to London, to Tyoko...for sure, HK did a poor job in that too, e.g. when comparing to SG. (but again, HK is not a sovereign country, so it is a bit different too)
e.g. you won't do high tech stuff in NY, and they then go to the west coast. but if you are bounded within a city, you have nowhere to go. (if you are going to do high-tech in HK, the rent will kill you already)
2. 我觉得大家能做的就是躲香港远点,然后让香港自由地折腾不就行了吗
this is indeed what the HK people are fighting for....but seems the PRC government don't buy this idea.......
as someone in politics studies (or social science in general), the first question should be: why this happens?
if you let the bad feeling (which is normal of course) dominate your mind or curiosity of the reason behind, I will doubt if you are good / professional enough for further study in the field....
