先附上签经，一共5分钟左右，但我们的语速都比较快（自己口语原来还不错，：P），有

些内容可能记不住了，关键的应该都在。

V: What will you do in the US?
M: I will pursue my Ph.D. degree in physics at Harvard University.
V: Why do you want to pursue a Ph.D. degree in the US?
M: Harvard is one of the best univ in the world, and the physics department a

t Harvard is also among the top physics department...
V: I mean why do you need a Ph.D. degree.
M: I want to further elevate myself to the most advanced level, so that I can

become a leading scientist in China when I come back. //ft，竟然乱套了，漏掉

一句话，紧张ing
V: You will become a leading scientist after you come back? //表情由笑转为怀疑

M: No no no, I mean after several years of harding working and effort. My car

eer goal is to become a leading scientist in China.
V: It's your career goal?
M: Yeah. //看到VO点点头，松了一口气
V: But the research at Harvard is better, why do you want to come back?
// 就等你说这句话了，呵呵
M: Because I will be more successful in China. You know, the research in Chin

a is somehow lagged behind(顺着VO的思路), so I will do something to bridge th

e gap between the research in China and that in America, this is also a very

important and meaningful contribution I can make. Besides, I will keep in tou

ch with my professors at Harvard, and sometimes I can do the research in coop

eration with them, so my research will also be on the cutting edge in China.

M: You know, many Chinese famous scholars and academicians of CAS have overse

a research experience and many of them also serve as high government official

s. For example, do you know the vice president of CAS, 白春礼?
V: No.
M: I have some materials for him. (Hand in the materials.) He came back from

Caltech and then built the China's own Scanning Tunneling Microscope. Of cour

se, he did not invent STM, so if he stays in the US, he will only be an ordin

ary professor. But he came back and built China's own STM, he is now a leadin

g scientist in China.
V: OK. What position would you expect to get? //应该已经有些相信了
M: I will find a research position in a Chinese top university or research in

stitute. I have discussed it with my current adviser, he welcomes me back, an

d said he will offer me a position if I am willing to come back to my current

group.

V: What area are you specialized in?
M: My research focuses on the Scanning Tunneling Microscope. STM is a microsc

ope that allows people to observe atoms directly...
V: Ok, microscope. //立刻闭口不说，免得说出些敏感的东西来。他去找敏感列表，当

然没找到了，：）
V: Go to window 10 to get your visa.
M: Thank you.

既然已经签过，想把自己这几天来准备visa的经验与大家分享，为PKU物理还没有签或准

备再签的同学，为所有的飞跃er加油，见笑了。
感觉上现在北京的VO是严格执行214b的，如果没有什么strong tie，你必须有一个非常符

合逻辑可以令人信服的plan，以下一些问题是最近的热点：
1) Why US?
（不要光回答US is advanced，而要说这对于将来回中国发展是必需的）
2) What will you do after graduation?
（进公司还是去学校中科院都无所谓，重点在于后面的问题你能自圆其说）
3) How do know you can find such a position?
Have you discussed it with anyone?
（看你是否真正考虑过回中国，最好有SL，否则也应该准备一些招聘信息的网页）
4) Why not apply to some Chinese universities?
Why Ph.D. in US?
（在VO看来，中国的顶尖大学读完博士是很容易在国内找一个faculty position的，所以

说回来做professor很容易被据。因为读中国的学校可以做到的事情何必要去美国读？这

就有移民倾向了。但最好不要直接反驳他，昨天看到一片签经说清华现在很想找归国学者

，所以国内的博士很难作faculty，马上被VO说：It's not true! Comfort~~所以对这个

问题的回答可以是想学的东西在中国没有，而你以后的工作又少不了）
5) The research in US is better, then why not work in the US?
You can earn more in the US, why back?
（最关键的问题。如果有strong tie最好，否则就要说服VO在中国比在美国更有前途，一

定要有对比，不能光说中国好。）
6) What will your salary be then?
（很难的一个问题，因为即考察你是否了解将来在中国的工作，又隐含着You can earn

more in the US, then why back?，好好考虑怎么回答吧。）
还有，在你的回答中，最好举些具体的例子来支持你的观点。我说了白春礼的例子估计是

让VO相信的重要原因。不要寄希望于放水和运气，不管学校好坏，准备好令人信服的pla

n是最关键的。Bless you all!
