第一次写issue,发上来之前改了很多次,但是觉得句型、思路方面还很欠缺,尤其是倒数第二段的分析,说得自己都没信心...希望大家拍砖O(∩_∩)O~
没有计时的,所以写得有点长...698个字额....
ISSUE130 - "How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society."
The author unfairly claims that the development of society depends on the socialization of children. While I concede that children’s process of socialization to help them develop into a healthy and normal people, in my intuition, there is a myriad of factors that decided whether a child can bring good to society. Furthermore, the author’s statement is dubious that we now still do not have the ability to bring up children who can contribute to society.
I agree with the author that socialization is important in determining whether a child can grow up to be an adult that is useful to the society. Socialization is a process during which people learn the basic survival skills as well as moral and ethnical values. People master the skill of labor, communication, logical thinking and analysis through the interaction with their parents, peers and teachers. Furthermore, children are indoctrinated with qualities such honesty, forgiveness, braveness and so forth. It is hard to imagine without the socialization process, a child can grow up naturally to live in society, communicate with others, and behave at least in a way that obey the law and moral standard. Not to mention the expectation for the children lacking socialization to contribute to the society.
Nevertheless, if we hurriedly jump to the conclusion that we have to merely rely on the process of socialization on children, we fail to recognize others important alternatives. These alternatives may involve the fact that the talent of a child and the environmental and experience that people may face when they grow up. A telling example is the contribution that Einstein made to the world that the modern physics changed because of his invention and until now he is nonpareil. What makes Einstein such a great person? Maybe his socialization process is the same as his peers’, as the most of ours. Perhaps it is his talent and his passion in exploring the fields of Physics that facilitated. Also, when Martin Luther King made his inspiring speech that encouraged his fellows to fight in peaceful way to gain their status, no one can attribute this to a simple process that most of us experience. As I see it, the experience in his life that he saw the unfair treatment of his compatriots, and the urgent to change the situation as well as other factors altogether made this.
Also, the author worries about the ability to raise a child to be a person that is good for the society. What I see is that history is depleted with evidences. During the last few decades, our society experienced the stupendous changes that are made by people who used to be young children. Despite the fact that high-technologies that change almost everyday have brought us a new way of living, working and communication, we human beings have paid more attention to fields that we ignored before which will push the development of society. One significant change is that we are now learning the earth is a whole and we depend on the delicate environment to survive so that we should spare no efforts to solve the problems of environmental pollutions, the extinction of wild animals and plants. No one can deny the fact that we have the positive experience to raise a generation of children to become useful to the society. Although nowadays people are busy with their work so that sometimes they ignore the ways of raising children, we can’t generalize that today’s children definitely will become useless to the society.
In sum, the authors goes to extremes when he points out the very importance of socialization and the disability of today’s parents in teaching a child to be useful to the society. Both common sense and historical proof tell us even if socialization is important in a child’s growth, there are other factors that direct them to make contribution to society. Further, we cannot be so negative to conclude that we can do nothing to guide them to the way to repay society. |
