1014日  Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The best way to improve the quality of education is to increase teacher’s salary ?

Over the span of the human history, education is always corn factor upon which our human being depend to advance. To improve the quality of education, increase teacher's salary is neither the only one nor the best choices in my view. While in most cases, rigidly linking higher salary and  advanced education will amount to an unfair generalization. In fact, education is a multi-party effort that requires the cooperation of parents, teachers, schools and even the children themselves.

Admittedly, higher salary could enhance the enthusiasm in the daily teaching. Nonetheless, that is not the only one nor the most significant factor influencing the quality of education. A recent investigation in a mainstream Chinese media shows that many people choose teaching as their career due to interests and responsibility of the society rather than money. Our life is filled with examples, just flip open the newspaper or turn on the TV, we will see some youngster go to the remote regions to be a volunteer teacher instead of work in a big city when they have graduated.

Moreover, we cannot ignore the fact that school's position in the process of education. From the primary school to the university, the average people have spend sixteen years or even more time in the school. Schooling amounts to far more than providing knowledge; it also embrace delivering beliefs, values and humanity. Therefore, a good library, completely curriculum, advanced lab and so on is vital to every students.

In addition, when we pay attention to the role of teachers and schools in the education, isn't necessary that we give some consideration to those  "life teacher " the parents. They are always the first teacher in one's life. The parents themselves could actively endue their children traditional social values and ethical principles gradually throughout the day. In a brief historial restropect, we are easily find that numerous great man and woman uniformly emphaised the importance of the education from their parents.

Finally, as I said, we do realize the seriousness and importance of the multi-party effort for a country's level of education. Only through everyone's efforts do we have a better educational environment and everybody is better off.

The lecture revises the idea presented in the text, that the girl in the professional painting was not Jane Austen.

First, when the portrait was authorized for use in 1882 publication letters, Austen has already died for almost 70 years. So the family member has never seen Austen themselves. In other words, they have no quite idea if the portrait was Austen or not. This is directly challenge the view in the reading.

Second, the lecturer takes the position that there have a high possibility——the girl in the painting was the relative of Austen. He agues that Austen's family was very large and many of her female cousin or children at that period were teenagers. Some of these teenager girl could resemble Austen. Moreover, many experts asserts a descent niece of Austen was the girl in the portrait. This is another part where the listening conflicts with the reading.

Third, according to the lecture, the style as the evidence is unconvincing. He provides further evidences that a stamp on the back of the picture indicates the canvass was sold by a man who did not sell canvass in London at the time of Austen's teenager. Records show that the man start selling canvasses when Austen was 27 years old. However, the girl in the portrait is more younger. This conclusion once again contradicts the point made in the passage.

Therefore, with further evidence and reasoning, the passage is logically attacked by the professor.

The speaker revise the idea presented in the text, that the views on "buzzing" was misleaded.

First, he gives the fact that the buzzer was selected people between use the product and really think the product is good by the company. . That means buzzing is not like the ordinary advertisement which paid with some lies . Moreover, the buzzer gets the paid only for telling the consumers what they think about the product, it is reasonable. The speaker himself is an good example. Therefore, this is directly challenge the view in the reading.

Second, the speaker makes the point that consumers often ask myriad of questions about the product, such as price, service and how long did the buzzer use product. The fact is always that the consumer will not buy this product if the buzzer do not give the good answers. Therefore, it is not necessary for consumers to doubt whether they are being lobbied. This is another part where the listening conflicts with the reading.

Third, the lecturer argues that if the product is really bad, the result of the company is can not hire any people to be a buzzer. He also points out someone who trying the buzzing product will have a good experience and get loved in this advertisement. They will become more trustful and open to the people rather than the spread of mistrust. This conclusion is once again contradicts the point made in reading passage.

Therefore, with further evidences and reasoning, the passage is logically attacked by the speaker.

The lecture revises the idea presented in the text, that the three theories about functions of "great house" in New Mexico are unconvincing.

Firstly, the lecturer states that the house is used for resident is not convincing. Although outside of the house is similar to the apartment building, the inside have some differences. Moreover, he points out there are few fireplaces for families in daily cooking. The fireplaces in one largest house could only provided for ten families rather than hundred people. So, this directly challenges the first theory in the reading.

Secondly, the talker argues that there have not enough evidences to support that the great house was used for storage. He takes the position that there is no necessary meaning to link the size of the house to maize storage. From the excavation, few traces such as spilled maize on the floor or maize container has discovered. Therefore, the second theory is unconvincing.

Thirdly, the lecturer contends that there are many other materials besides broken pots in the mound is not used for ceremonial center. He gives us some examples such as sands, stones even constructive tools. These materials suggests that they are all trashes. Similarly, the pots are regularly trash which were throwed away by the construction workers. All in all, the Pueblo Alto mound is not good evidence that support the third theory.

Therefore,  with further evidence and reasoning , the three theories were logically attacked by the lecturer.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? More and more people spend too much money on their pet (dogs, cats and others), although there are better uses for these money. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer

Pets, arguably, are friends of we human beings. Just flip open the local newspaper, we will see the reports about pets; walk pass a bunch of persons, you may hear chattering discussion on pets. Undoubtedly, people graduatly tend to become more glad to spend money on pets despite these money may have better uses.

Firstly, in order to show status in society, some people prefer to spend tons of money on purchasing pets. In other words, they are taking a decent pet as a sense of identity and social status. My uncle, who always like to keep up with others by showing off his new pets. So he pay much attention to the information on new kinds of dogs or birds. And then he will buy it without any consideration although it sometimes costs huge cashes. Consequently, he receives lots of complains from his family owning to the reason that he always has not sufficient money to afford the daily expenditure . Our life is filled with examples.


Secondly, it become a daily occurence that people become more pleasure to spend money on their pets rather than themselves. As we all know that it is not rare to see pets' clinic and pets' food shops. To nobody's surprise, people spend more and more money buying pets' food and paying high for decorating their pets. Sina.com, a major news portal, has a  investigation which indicates that half of those consumers are earning a salary below 500 dollars a month, they are not rich at all. It seems a bit ridicilous, but it actually happen as a dialy occurrence around me.

Admittedly, pets are loyal companions for some people especially for the old. However, when those people enjoy happiness with their pets, isn't it necessary that they give some consideration to some areas which is more curious for money such as education, charity. In this case, people should focus more on the themselves or at large, the society.

To sum up, pets nowadays often considered as a mark of status and sometimes a luxury. They take a large part in some people's life. What's more, it distract the money which might give the individuals even the society more benefits.

The lecturer revises the idea presented in the reading material, that communal online encyclopedias does not have any weakness which might less valuable than printed encyclopedias.

Firstly, the speaker says that the criticism of the reading is unfair. The fact is that none of the encyclopedias is closed to a perfect one without any mistake. Also, she makes a comparison which indicates it is more easy for online formation to be corrected, while the errors in traditional encyclopedias might be remained for several years. Therefore, this directly challenge the view in the reading.

Secondly, the author is very anxious about the fabrication, deletion and some illegal activity on the Internet. In the contrary, the speaker points out they have recognized the significance of protection. She gives two strategies to avoid the problems, the first one is to adopt the read-only format and the second one is to hire some special editors to supervise all the changes. So, this is another part where the listening conflicts with the reading.

Thirdly, the speaker maintains that the traditional encyclopedias have no choice but have decide what is important and what is not completely due to limited space. And also some academic articles which cover kinds of  topics are represented in online encyclopedias to reflect the users' interests. What is more, this is one of online formation's strongest advantages. This conclusion is once again contradicts the point made in the reading passage.

Therefore, with further reasoning , the passage is logically attacked by the professor.
