大家帮我看看这种古怪的情况,本人申请的是The School of the Art Institute of Chicago的interior architecture 的研究生,TOEFL79分 ,没考GRE,鲁美(此校根本不存在大学数学和物理的课程)本科大四,准备09年fall入学。
可是校方却要求我去修大学数学和物理,理由是我没考GRE和SAT,以下是具体内容,请同学们帮帮我,看看我该怎么办?
I'm glad I was able to reach you for our phone interview with the drastic time diference. As I recall, you have a 4 year degree in environmental design.
Here are some notes from our conversation today:
In order to graduate from a NAAB-accredited Master of Architecture program (first professional degree), you must have 45 semester credits of liberal arts or non-architectural courses - that's 15 3 credit classes. For US students, this is normally obtained in the undergraduate degree program. You have room in the SAIC M. Arch. program for 6 electives, which means that you could gather 18 of those 45 credits here at SAIC without elongating your time here beyond the normal 3.5 years. The rest must be taken before you start our M. Arch program.
In order to succeed in the required structural engineering courses in SAIC's M. Arch. program, you need to be fast and comfortable with college level algebra. Some other M. Arch. programs require college level calculus, but we do not. If you have not had college level algebra, but you were good in math before college, if you take the GRE and get a very good score on the quantitative portion, - 700 or so - the chances are that you will be able to pass our required structural engineering courses.
Or you can take a college level algebra or pre-calculus class.
Again, in order to succeed in the required engineering classes, you need to be familiar with college level physics, preferably a course that requires calculations. Mastery of "classical mechanics" in physics ensures success in the "statics" structural engineering topics, and mastery of electricity and thermo-dynamcs ensures that you will be able to pass the mechanical engineering topics that are required for every M. Arch student. If you take an SAT AP test in Physics and score at least 3 out of 5, the chances are that you will succeed in the engineering portion of our M. Arch. program. Or you can take a college level physics class with calculations
I hope this helps explain the proper preparation for SAIC's M. Arch program, and a couple ways of getting that preparation.
