How to solve the persistent social problems nowadays? Things become complex owing to the globalization. Then someone recommend that all nations' supporting a global university designed to engage students in solving the world's issues might be help. However, it's an idea that hard to solve even though it's a wonderful idea.
That might be helpful to cultivate students who are to solve the world's problems in such a global university because such environment would develop a consciousness and ability of cooperation between students from different countries. After all, it's a day of globalization. That does not only mean that the cooperation in economics become world wide, but also the problems which could not be solved by single nation. The environmental pollution, the worldwide financial crisis, and threaten of wars, are all issues that involve the most countries of the world, or at least, a region of large area. Thus, to solve these problems calls for collaboration from different countries of different cultures. Now that the communication is required, the students who would help the fluency of dialogue between cultures are needed.
A university supported by all nations would help the communication within the students from these countries, and through this communication the students of different culture would understand each other better. Thus after the graduation, these people could play the important role in reconciling the proposals of the nations that differ in ideas. Thus the establishment of this university might help cultivate students enable to, or help, deal with the social problems in the world.
However, such a university could hardly be built concerning the financial support is designed to be provided by all nations in the world. For one of the most persistent social problems in itself is the inequity of the relationship within nations and the immense disparity in economics, which also responds to, and swells in turn accounting for, the poverty of a lot of nations, thus it’s not every nation would afford to go shares in the expense.
This situation would bring about the question that how to govern the university, and who determine the policy of the university. If the funding is provided by each country in same amount, then nations suffering from starvation would get into serious financial dilemma otherwise little money would be available; if the richer, the more duty, then those nations would certainly ask for more right in making decision otherwise they would not be willing to take out more. Sequent question whether the university should keep the spirit of equality follows if the richer countries provide more. But inequity would benefit the richer and even harm the poor, thus the original principle might never be achieved.
What's more, even such a university is to construct, it could hardly survive through the competition among all colleges, let alone development. Considering the failure of world language, it's hard to establish things concerning culture background without the support of profound, integral, systems of principle and ideas have endured the test of time. And the world is far earlier to agree on a same system of culture. So the quality of the education provided by that university is questionable, and the development might be rather difficult.
In conclusion, though the idea is wonderful and attracting, it's almost impossible to achieve such goal. |
