其实一直有自己练作文，但是越练越不知道到底怎么用词好怎么用句好，朴素的还是华丽的……实在迷茫。还是加入作文小组大家讨论讨论互相帮助吧~

The best way to improve the quality of the education in a country is to increase teacher’s salary?

Issues on education have long been nation-wide topics, which are so essential that any country which neglects them may pay a heavy price. Specifically,
finding ways to improve the quality of the education is exact one of these issues.
From my point of view, the best way to enhance education quality is to increase teachers’ salary.

The most conspicuous reason lies in the fact that increasing salary makes teachers focus more on their work.
According to a survey conducted in Shanghai last year, over fifty percent of high school teachers took part-time jobs of tutoring students after class. Such phenomenon largely resulted from teachers' discontent in their wages, which spurs them into giving lessons outside the schools for more income. Obviously, the more
time teachers spend on tutoring, the less time they can devote to education in the schools.
In this sense, increasing salary is very likely to make teachers back to schools with full dedication. Moreover, more income brings more material comforts to teachers, improving their life quality. Mr. Chen , my biology teacher in elementary school ,came from a poor family. After the school paid him more, he bought a micro-oven and a dish
washer , which emancipated him from household chores, thus more time for preparing for his classes. Therefore, increasing salary frees teachers
from financial burdens and
make maximum contribution to teaching in schools.

In addition, an additional salary encourages teachers to further their study. In this era of information explosion, teachers have to keep learning to be well-informed of the latest knowledge, and hence they can impart the most advanced knowledge to their students.
As a case in point, with more money in hand, teachers may purchase more newly-published books to read,
imbibe the academic information on them and then instruct their students with
it. Indeed it is the increase in teachers’salary that promises education of higher caliber.

Admittedly, other ways may also be instrumental to improving education quality, such as modernization in teaching facilities and adapting curriculums to the social needs. However, increasing teachers' salary has every reason to be the most effective way to improve education quality since it directly improves the quality of teachers, that is, it enables teachers to focus more time on their work and to update their knowledge. Good teachers deserve decent pays, and in return, decent pay promises good teachers, thus good education.

我只写了两个理由。而且两个理由明显一个长一个短。这样是不是不好？
因为听说应该是三个理由而且每段都比较平均比较好…… 大家是什么看法或者听说什么更权威可信的看法否？

In the lecture, the professor is challenging the viewpoint in the reading passage that the decline in sea otters is caused by pollution and puts forward her viewpoint that it is the attacks by predators that lead to the decline in sea otters.

First, the speaker points out the fact that few dead otters have been spotted on the beaches. This fact directly disproves the reasoning offered in the passage that many otters die from contamination. Actually, the fact is consistent with the speaker’s opinion because only attacked by predators will the otters leave few dead bodies along the coast but at the same time, undergo decline in numbers.

Moreover, the speaker argues that orcas are preying small mammals. With the decrease in the number of whales caused by human hunters, orcas have no choice but to switch their prey to smaller mammals including otters , seals and sea lions. This again challenges the view in the passage that it is pollution that results in the decline in all these small sea mammals.

Lastly, the speaker deems that predator attacks is a better explanation for the uneven pattern of otter decline. The number of otters remains the same in shallow or rocky places which are inaccessible to orcas while decreases sharply in places that orcas have easy access to. This also contradicts the passage’s view that uneven pattern of otter decline is caused by uneven concentration of pollutants.
