大家好，小女现在日本东京大学读硕士，本科国内中山大学。
打算申美加的urban planning，urban geography和sociology的PhD

陶瓷第一回合，目前得到Brown university 和 The University of British Columbia 两个教授的回信。希望大家帮忙解读下。

我发的信，介绍了一下自己的背景，希望phd做的研究，以及希望该教授做导师的原因，明年招不招生。

Thank you for your email.  Our department always considers PhD applications from international students.  The deadline to apply is XX. Competition is great because we admit a small number of students every year.  An important point is the essay you explain why our department would be a good fit to your interests -- should be honest and well informed.

Every admitted student has a choice of which faculty to work with and who will be the main advisor.  Our practice is to encourage students to select a resaerch topic that is meaningful to them, and then to find an advisor who is well suited.

Given your current degrees in XX and XX, you may also want to consider PhD in  XX or XX programs.
