关于考官Nick

How to prepare systematically for the speaking test.
There are two sides to preparing for any part of the IELTS test, including speaking.
The first is to practice techniques for answering IELTS exam questions. The most important technique to practice in the speaking test is to connect your ideas and sentences with connecting words to develop your ideas, Short answers like “yes” and “no” are not acceptable. You need to use connecting words to develop longer answers. You can use “for example” as a connecting word like this… “There are many historic buildings and tourist attractions in Beijing. For example, the forbidden city  , the silk market and Tienanmin square.”
Another connecting word is: In addition”  like this… “In addition, there are many famous places outside the city like the great wall.”
Other connecting words you can use are in contrast. As a result. Therefore and many others.

The other aspect of your practice should be improving your general English level as much as you can. First of all, vocabulary. The more vocabulary you have the more you can express yourself well in answering IELTS speaking questions. But don’t just study random vocabulary. Study vocabulary for the usual IELTS topics.  You should study vocabulary about one IELTS topic like technology or education, and so on,  every day if you can.
But even more important than vocabulary, you should study every day to improve your English grammar. This is the main problem for Asian IELTS candidates. This is because the IELTS test is more than a little unfair to Asian students in the aspect of grammar.There are no Asian languages which use plural nouns, verb tenses, or articles  ( like a an the ) while all European languages use these things. It’s definitely an unfair advantage for them but its up to you to overcome the problem by study. In fact in the worldpath online syllabus we teach classes in IELTS vocabulary and grammar for this reason. To help them overcome this disadvantage in grammar. You can study it yourself at home too but you’d better start soon because it takes time to improve grammar levels.
Ok, to summarise all this. You need to study regularly by practicing IELTS speaking techniques with the latest speaking topics, especially focusing on using connecting words to develop longer answers  and to study regularly to improve your general level of English grammar and IELTS-related vocabulary.
