Funded Ph.D. Assistantships—Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas, USA
The Department of Industrial, Manufacturing, & Systems Engineering (IMSE) at Texas Tech
University (TTU), Texas, USA is looking for two highly motivated individuals to pursue
doctoral degrees in Industrial Engineering with a specialization in human factors and
ergonomics. Research is focused in the areas of human-systems engineering, including but not
limited to musculoskeletal health biomechanics and modeling, integrated (physical and central)
fatigue modeling and analysis, motor learning and control, and machine learning approaches in
ergonomic research. The fully-funded assistantships cover tuition and a competitive stipend.
Potential start dates include Fall 2019.
The students will have access to state-of-the-art equipment including a motion capture system,
force plate, surface electromyography, electroencephalogram, dynamometer, driving simulator,
eye tracker, flexible wearables, and other physiological measurement devices.
Position requirements:
• A recent B.S./M.S. degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Computer, Electrical, or
Biomedical Engineering.

• Interested in biomechanics and ergonomics research
• Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred qualifications:
• Hands-on experience in human-related experiments, human motor control and learning,
and musculoskeletal modeling
• Knowledge of OpenSim, AnyBody, finite element analysis, or any other musculoskeletal
modeling platform
• Prior research-based publications and presentations
• Competence in Matlab, Python, machine learning or other advanced data analytics are
highly desirable
• Desire to pursue a long-term research-related career
