TOPIC: ISSUE38 - "In the age of television, reading books is not as important as it once was. People can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books."

1。通过电视学习是有好处的，例如，帮助理解和记忆。
2。但是电视学习也有缺点，例如，时间地点固定。
3。通过书本学习的好处，方便有效。
4。书本还可包括电脑上所不能表现的东西。

Current wisdom says that learning from television equate with learning by books. In my opinion, I concede that we can learn much information from television; however, the effects of learning from books also play an important role in study.

In the first place, I admit that learning by watching television is useful in our life, especially in the age of television. As we know, using television to study, we can study by two ways of watching pictures and listening voice, these two ways help us to better understand the meaning and remember the fact. By using television, for example, we can acknowledge the war in different angles at the same time. In addition, for example, we can learn a ball playing skill from a wonderful football game, and we also can know more details than reading books, because by watching television, we can clearly realize athletes’ mood and feeling. All these useful factors let us studying by watching television.

However, we should realize the disadvantage of learning by watching television. The first negative aspect is that we cannot choose how time to study, just because the time of programs were determined already. Therefore we should study in certain times which would decrease people's interest in study. The second negative aspect is that we cannot take with televisions by ourselves, and we should study in houses of having televisions. However, we would not confront such questions if we studied by reading books.

On the other hand, learning by reading books has some advantages, such as convenience and efficiency. For example, we can take a book by ourselves to go elsewhere to study, in a park, on the beach, and in the traveling. How a happy thing we could do! Therefore, because we can take with books elsewhere at any moment, just like at the bus stop, waiting for people, or in a short rest time, and so forth. In this way, we can make the best of time to study rather that to choose a certain time in a fixed place.

‘Moreover, books would contain more knowledge than in television programs. Considerably, the pay for producing television programs would higher more than publishing books in the same content, and our society cannot afford to make all knowledge to become television programs. Thus, we can indicate that we would find more knowledge by reading books than watching television. Furthermore, in many respects such as some important records which only can learn in books, television also cannot achieve the results as books.

In conclusion, both studying ways by television and by books has positive aspects in some certain circumstance. Even we realize and accept the advantages of studying by watching television, we cannot ignore the important way of studying by reading books.
