TOPIC: ISSUE47 - "Society does not place enough emphasis on the intellect-that is, on reasoning and other cognitive skills."

Does society pay enough attention to the intellect? The author asserts not, however, in my years of observation and experience, the answer to such question is a definite yes.

To better understand such issue, it is necessary to give a clear definition about intellect. As far as I know, intellect is just the capability to absorb knowledge and effective information available, and then make beneficial use of them to achieve self goal. That is to say, intellect includes two parts, reasoning and cognitive ability, as the author has mentioned. For both parts, the society seems have placed enough emphasis.

First, both reasoning and cognitive skills have been emphasized in our educational system. For one thing, as we well know, ever since kindergarten, we are taught by teachers and parents how to obtain knowledge on diverse subjects, which is the very meaning of cognitive skills. For example, when we learn the subject biology, we are required to do lots of experiments, through which we get to know how to find the truth around us, thus cognitive skills being cultivated.

For another thing, reasoning is well focused in schools. When we learn some implemental subjects like math, we are not only detailedly given how all the equations are fine-drawn, but also required to keep practising such process. Moreover, lots of activities, such as debates, consciously designed by schools, are excellent methods to develop students' reasoning skills. Gradually, from such training, our reasoning skills have been improved, no matter whether we realize it or not.

Furthor, the whole society also place much emphasis on intellect. Trough media communication, our society pass diverse information to citizens, from which the citizens' ability on effective cognition and reasoning is firmed. For example, the Discovery series are telling people how some unknown fields have been researched and studied. The popular Japanese cartoon Detective Konan is another good example to make children know better about reasoning and cultivate their passions to do such reasoning in their own lives. All in all, the society does have noticed the significance of intellect, including reasoning and cognitive skills, and is trying every methods and ways to improve people's intellectual level.

To sum up, in a whole, both our schools and the whole society has placed enough emphasis to intellect, including reasoning and cognitive skills, which makes the society enjoy a quick and healthy development.

欧洲生物统计比较

本人计划2025spring去欧洲读生物统计硕士，目前在准备这两个项目的申请：莱顿大学的Statistics & Data Science，瑞士的苏黎世大学Biostatistics。计划以后在欧洲的药企做统计师，如果硕士找不到工作，可以考虑继续读生物统计的博士。有移民打算。苏黎世的项目一年半，可以选一个30学分的辅修，学费很便宜，一年才几百法郎，但生活费比较贵，而且难留下来。莱顿的项目两年，学费比较贵，一年要21000欧左右，但比瑞士好润。

UA食品安全硕 VS UBC食品科学硕

两个都是食品相关的授课硕，希望留加。 UA - Msc Specialization in Food Safety and Quality 优点：便宜，学费应该是2w刀爱屯生活成本也比温哥华低。ua食品专业比较好，问过大学的专业课老师，??读食品推荐UG和UA。缺点：冷冷冷城市位置&经济比不上温哥华，indeed上ab省food safety岗位比bc少两百个左右。最后一个学期可选实习/做project 实习要自己申请然后面试不是100%保证。专业太细分感觉只能做qa qc（虽然食品ng几乎都从这两个做起）aos因为积压太多停止，zc不明朗。 UBC - Master of Food Science 优点：气候温和，qs排名高（现在两个省zc都不好，不知道能不能留得下，如果要回国这是优点）课程涉及到的方面比较多，可选岗位会比较广？学校安排实习，bc食品岗位多一点点缺点：贵！一年学费四万六刀毕业之后找不到工作的话，生活在温哥华就是在烧钱，本人对花钱会比较焦虑。bcpnp改革之后要和所有bc硕士一起竞争，且细则未出，不明朗，如果像安省一样打分，我的地理位置和薪资是不占优势的。拿的不是理学硕士Msc，不知道这个会有什么影响？?

NTU PE VS NUS EE

需求/目标：留服认证为电气工程，进南网相关央国企，比如：供电局、南网超高压、南网储能、核电站（不知道会不会因为留学不给进 NTU PE(Power Engineering) 优点：学费更便宜26w；没那么近市中心租房更便宜，且有一定概率抽到宿舍；课程更偏向电气强电，有利于进电网相关企业（不知道是不是这样）缺点：QS26，相对于NUS更低；扩招厉害，据说bar比较低 NUS EE (Electrical Engineering. 优点：QS8排名更高，据说课程教学质量更好，录取bai 也更高缺点：学费更贵30.9w；宿舍基本不可能有，且更近市中心，租房成本更贵（不知道一个月2000新够不够租房费+伙食费）；课程设置感觉强电课程很少，更偏向自动化弱电，我本科自动化，很多课程都学过两所学校学费差5w，加上租房费用差异，可能总费用相差8w。希望留服认证为电气工程，进南网相关央国企和核电站，选哪个offer好？还是说新二就业都一样，没差别?

是否应该让APS审核验证我未完成的求学经历？

APS审核告诉我说可以自行选择是否认证博士阶段的求学经历，但是由于是不会再完成的学位，所以之后无法再补审。我是否应该选择认证？（博士阶段绩点比较高；但是我验毕了一年后才选择退学）
