167题 是关于在图书馆投资书还是电脑的问题
Having enough money to invest the libraryis an exciting thing to any universities. How to use this money is also adifficult choice. If one has to choose one between computers and books whenmaking investment, I personally believe that the best option is the computer becausecomputers not only provide students convenient but also save money for theuniversity.
First, a computer offer the students a veryconvenient way of study. With the computer one will have no trouble finding anydata of the library he/she wants to further my study by using the search systemand the digital information. If the library does not have enough computers, however, searching for the large amount of data is not an easy task for everystudent. one have to spend nearly half a day in the library wandering in thebook shelves, finding the right book he/she want from the reference stacks ,and even carry these books , perhaps weight for 20 pound in gross, commuting betweenthe library and his/her classroom. This, of course, is the waste of time andenergy. On the other hand, a computer would make us searching the informationin the library everywhere by using the internet, even out of the university, regardlessthe strict off duty time and the situation of the library. And we even do not need to consider the overdueand fine by downloading the PDF digital books for the library’s website.
The second reason why invest money on thecomputer is the best choice because the digital system in the library wouldsave money for the university. Firstly, without enough computers, a library hasto buy many same books, such as the schoolbooks and fundamental reference bookswhich are needed for many classes, to meet the need of the students. Thesebooks would waste a lot of money in the university in the long run. But, if alibrary has enough computer and internet system, the university only needs tobuy the copyright from the publishing companies and provide the digital editionsto the students. Secondly, computer is a good assistant for the people; it isalso for the library, too. Almost all of the old libraries have the problem of theexpense of too many employees, and computers help, because with these excellentassistants, a library does not need a large number of staffs any more.
While, in comparing to the books, thecomputers also have many disadvantages, it is very fragile to the virus forinstance, I believe that the benefits are overweight the defects. If we takethe proper precaution, such as installing anti-virus software and making copiesfor the data, the students and the university stand to benefits. |
