9) In any field of endeavor, it is impossible to make a significant contribution without first being strongly influenced by past achievements within that field.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.

Issue 9
In any field of endeavor, it is impossible to make a significant contribution without first being strongly influenced by past achievements within that field.

Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.

我的思路：

Thesis Sentence: In fields like science, it is true that beginners can seldom make significant contribution, but in business where everything is possible, it is a totally different story. But what we should keep mind is that in any field, free and equal competition is important, opportunities should also open for beginners.

TS1: Admittedly, in science, making a significant contribution without first being strongly influenced by past achievements within that field is difficult.

TS2: In business, however, beginners sometimes can find blue sea, a new market no one entered before, which may bring them great success.

TS3:
Finally, in any field of endeavor, people should not be fettered by convention in that field, beginners also should belief that sometimes they may hold the truth, which is important for development of whole society.

原思路问题和感悟：
（１）选择的立论点未必是心里最赞同的，而是最容易写的；
（２）最后一点容易模糊观点。

讨论结果：

一边倒观点，认为所有领域成就都基于过去的积累，分三个领域讨论。
分类之后，重点在于论证过程，要把influence过程说清楚。
TS1. Science.
（经济学模型演化基于原有模型）
TS2. Product design
（smart phone的出现其实是wifi等各类支撑技术的整合）
TS3. Business
（taobao基于ebay，支付宝基于epayment）

个人觉得这个题跟

Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.

是可以合并的。

因为实际上两题讲的都是beginner和experts在各方面（经验、激情、实力、知识积累等）上的差异，因此导致他们取得成果的可能性有不同。
