上周五采访完SMU的招生推广负责人之后,我们拜访了MITB项目的总监 Dr. Enoch CH'NG. 他向我们介绍了很多关于这个硕士项目的情况,并希望能够通过我们寄托的宣传,让更多人能够了解到这个项目。
项目简介
MITB项目全称Master of IT in Business,官网(www.smu.edu.sg/mitb)。与纯经管课程、IT课程不同的是,MITB更注重finance、IT和operation三者的交叉内容。在采访小记里面已经稍微介绍了一下,SG非常需要金融类人才,而尤为急需的恰恰是IT金融复合型人才。我不是很专业,只能讲个大概。拿新加坡来说,作为全球第四的金融中心,本土银行所占的比重非常小。很多欧美超级银行蜂拥来到新加坡,但是,银行IT系统之间技术上的差别差距,以及从母国直接输出技术人才成本过高,这两个主要原因带来了对SG相关人才的巨大需求。MITB这个项目也就是瞄准了这样的契机设计的,创办7~8年,Dr. Enoch CH'NG骄傲地告诉我们,每年的毕业生都在业界受到用人单位的青睐。
课程设置
事实上我觉得这应该是这个项目最大的亮点!
由于这个项目的board of advisors, faculty们不仅学术造诣很高,而且跟业界有很强的attachment,并且他们中很多人就曾经任职跨国银行、投行等等金融机构的高管,在课程设计方面就不会那么死钻理论。实际上,可以这么说,课程体系完全是站在学生们未来雇主的角度构建的。
Dr. Enoch CH'NG跟我们分享了市场,对于想在现今金融业发展的IT人才的四大要求:
1. Experts in financial services technology, operations & processes
2. Leaders of financial services innovations & change management
3. Executives with proven expertise and relevant experience
4. Technologists with the business management edge to move into senior management positions within financial services Tech & Ops
1. A good Bachelor's degree preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, IT, Engineering or Science!
2. 2 years of IT and/or operations related work experience in Banking, or other segments of the financial services industry!
3. Strong IT and/or operations work experience in other industries!
4. GMAT score

Enoch is an Associate Professor of Information Systems (Education) at Singapore Management University. He is also the Director of SIS (School of Information Systems) Programs in Financial Services (Technology, Operations, Processes & Service Innovation). Currently Enoch’s teaching and service center on preparing students for financial services technology and operations (T&O) roles. He focuses on delivery methods, tools and the learning environment. His research interests are in payment systems, risk management and developing content for the various views of the Unified Banking Process Framework (UBPF).
Enoch joined the academia with some 25 years of experience in risk management, IT and management functions. Notably Enoch was a Managing Director in DBS Bank Corporate Office. He was the Executive Director of the Specialist Risk Supervision Department in Monetary Authority of Singapore. He also spent 10 years in various roles in UBS. Prior to his career in banking, Enoch worked for the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) for 9 years, gaining extensive experience in aviation, ranging from airport management to air traffic control system planning.
Enoch holds a Master's degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University.
