题目:Students are influenced more by their teachers than they are by their classmates.
As to which has more influence on students, classmates or teachers,I think it is a rather contigent question depending upon the
social backgrounds. From my experience as a Chinese student, classmates matter more.
In China, the size of each class is normally very lagre, whihch usually made up of more than 40 students. This scale makes two
basic effects.First, the teachers rarely has enough time and enthusiasm to care about everyone in his or her class. It is rather
unrealistic to split the teacher's care equally to each individual. As a matter of fact, the teacher will choose someone to care
more, typically the best or the worst or both.Under most circumstance, the middle is ignored or cared less though it constitutes
the majority. For example,in my high school class, how many times was i able to ask a question in the Math lesson? Once, which
made sense of many things. So for most students, their teachers are rather faraway outsides the lesson. In consequence,a gap is
formed during the schooltime, which is filled noramlly by the friendships of classmates.
Second, the competition becomes bigger with the growth of the scale.More classmates mean more competitors when you are in a test.
In effect, this effect goes beyond the test because every lesson, every homework and even every time in school means the preparation
for tests and hence should be taken seriously.Though each ranking system will pressure the participants, the big number of competitors
expand the pressure much more.Relaxing for a little while means falling behind the competitors.I never rested at each break as a
high school student,so did my classmates. We always found some exercises to make.
In conclusion, classmates are each other's friends and competitors.Care and presssure spread across them while the large scale of each
class set an invisible line between teachers and students, which is often the case in China.
