TOPIC: ISSUE56 - "Governments should focus more on solving the immediate problems of today rather than trying to solve the anticipated problems of the future."
WORDS: 543 TIME: 01:03:39 DATE: 2009-8-6 10:49:24
Retrospect to history, countless nations sprang up and then faded; many were sparking for a certain time, but few managed to survive and thrive for a long period. Tracing the origins of the former ones’ vanishing, we discover that what they had in common is that they failed to handle the potential problems in the future and urgent issues of today. 题目是比较型的,应该是平衡观点或者是不平衡观点,你这里失败的政府归因于没有处理好当前与未来的问题?可以这样理解么?
Admittedly, no wonder that the immediate problems of today are so conspicuous that it is hard for any government to ignore. If not, it is very possible that such government would be bogged down in perils. For instance, once insurrection broke out, the government must gather all its power to defeat the rebel army. Otherwise, the government has to be faced with the fate of being overthrown. In Chinese history, every dynasty was born by overthrowing its former one. Other relatively mild problems like unemployment, pandemic diseases, and natural disasters should also be emphasized by the government. Think of the 5.12 WenChuan earquake which happened in 2008 in Sichuan Province, China, which took thousands of lives and left countless disable and homeless. The Chinese government reacted to the catastrophe as soon as possible: it gathered its military army to seek for lives, manufactured new tents to shelter the survival, called on donations from the society. Though many lives past away in the catastrophe, thanks to the quick response of Chinese government, more lives and broken hearts were able to live. From this angle, if a government failed to solve the urgent problems, we have reason to doubt whether it is able to govern the whole nation.这一段写的很好,政府应该有能力处理好紧急问题。
Nevertheless, being myopic to overlook the potential problems, a nation's strength could be undermined and sometimes its wheels may spin out of control. Enjoying the plenty and lavishing the natural resources, a nation could have to face the shortage of energy generations latter. What should the contemporary people do for their children and children's children: continue squander to leave a barren nation or harness the sun and winds to fuel the cars and run factories? Any government which wants a long-term prosperity would choose the latter one a thousand times. Additionally, how to guide the science and technology to the rightly direction is crucial for the future of the nation and even the world. Frankenstein is not welcome not only in today but also in tomorrow. Certainly, we do not want our children suddenly encounter with someone else who is a cloning of them. Nor do we wish our nuclear weapons created by ourselves destroyed our own children.
More importantly, a nation, whether a wealthy one or a developing one, should never forget to past the mutual value upon which the successes of the nation rely to its descendants, which include honesty and hard work, hope and persistence, courage and curiosity, and loyalty and patriotism. Without the spirits, the future generations could neither preserve the gorgeous and brilliant heritage from their ancestors nor continue making contributions to their mother land.这部分是什么立场?
Taking into account what has been discussed above the long-run bliss of a nation rests in a balance in solving the immediate problems and the potential ones. Without either one, the government would be entangled in great difficulties just as losing one leg for a man.
这篇文章感觉的角度选取的不是很直接,我感觉文章的核心和题目的联系需要读者仔细品味,可能我从来没这么写过。再看看别人的评价吧。你最好能说一下你的逻辑主线? |
